Cinderella's Castle Engagment

Recommended Posts

In March 2009, my FI and I decided that we were wayyyy over due for a vacation. Our anniversary is May 7th and this would be 5 years. What better time to go somewhere and celebrate? So after much research, we settled on Walt Disney World for a long weekend over the Memorial Day holiday. Even though this was a couple weeks after our real anniversary! Work and vacation hours got in the way sad.gif Anyway, we booked into the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel. Florida was going through a huge drought so I heard the weeks before our trip. 90 degree weather and sun all day! Yayyy!! Well, Mother Nature decided she was done with that because the day we arrived in Florida, a huge storm hit. Of course it did. It was thunder storming and raining so hard that you could not see 2 feet in front of your face!!! I was bummed! All that pre tanning was for nothing! I was not getting a tan let alone a burn or anything!

So the night we arrived, we decided to brave out the weather and go out to dinner for our anniversary. We went to Downtown Disney and ate at Foultons Crab House. Food was amazing! I had a little hope that we may pop the question. I mean, come on! It would have been the perfect time and place. But no. Nothing. I was not going to get my hopes up. I did not want to be bitter the whole trip. But I do have to admit that I had a tiny little tiny bit of an attitude.

The next day we woke up and it was cloudy but not rainy!! So we hurried up, booked it outta the hotel and headed to The Magic Kingdom. It drizzled hear and there on our ride there. We got there it was so not crowded! The rain sure does keep people at bay. My favorite thing at the Magic Kingdom is Cinderella’s Castle. I love the murals that you can see while you go under the castle. But of course, the walkways through the castle were closed for some show they were going to do several hours later. Ok fine. Carl took me around the side of the castle where there is a wishing fountain. I really wanted to go in the completely different direction and go to the Haunted Mansion while the lines were short. But no, he had to see this wishing well. Hmm... Is he going to proposehuh.gif We were almost to the fountain and he reached into his pocket and pulled out 2 quarters... and then.. And then.. There was a sign on the fountain and it was roped off. The fountain had just been painted. Oh well.. He only had money in his hand. No ring. Oh well.

That was how the rest of the day went. One thing after another did not go our way. I was starting to get a little grumpy. It was drizzling on and off and I was trying my darnest to not let a little rain ruin my trip!! So my FI said we should sit down and take a break. I told him to get me a funnel cake. Mmm.. I am a typical girl and when something is not going my way, what else do I do? I eat my emotions. After I ate an entire cake, and drank a large pop, I was not feeling pretty. I was pretty much ready to pack it up and go back to the hotel.

But it had stopped raining!! By mid afternoon, the sun peeked through a little. There was hope! We were on our way back to some rides after taking a break and walked by the castle again. My FI pointed out that is was open!! Yes!! I took out my camera and started taking pictures of the murals. They are so beautiful. I turned around after I was done and saw my FI one knee with a ring!!!!!!!!! OMG!! So many emotions hit me at once! After last night and all day I figured it would never happen. I was about ready to say move it or lose it buddy. But there is was. A gorgeous diamond wedding band. He actually paid attention when I told him I wanted a band!! (I'm a Dental Hygienist and did not wasn’t anything that could cut or rip my gloves) Funny thing is that the box was upside down. Very typical of my FI lol. After the pop, funnel cake, and long day in the rain, if that box was not upside down and I didn’t smile and laugh a little, I probably would have puked all over him lol. I think I said yes. It all happened so fast. People around us were clapping and taking pictures. So needless to say, I am in someone’s vacation scrap book!!

I guess my FI was going to do it when we first walked in but the castle was closed. Then by the fountain. Nope. So, running out of ideas, he took a break to think and watch me eat funnel cake lol. Then the sun came out and the castle was open. Fate I tell ya.

It rained the rest of our trip but I did not care :)

Aww cute story! I actually got engaged at Magic Kingdom also! My FI kept saying last year that we would probably be engaged next year. Well this past December, we went with my family to Disney World from Dec. 26 through Jan 2. I absolutely love Cinderella's castle and fireworks...who couldn't?!

Well anyways, we are from Indiana so we did not know that the busiest time for Disney is that week we were there. On New Year's Eve we had planned to spend the day at Magic Kingdom and my FI had planned to propose there. But by noon, the park had been closed b/c they had reached maximum capacity. So we were stuck going to Epcot, which is great, but not as romantic. My parents were in on the plan and so everyone kept calling the office to see if they were letting people in yet. Around 5 pm we took a gamble and hopped on the monorail to Magic Kingdom. Somehow we got into the park! A worker of 18 years told us that had never happened---where Magic Kingdom shuts down & then reopens...we were amazingly lucky. Once it was dark, they had their usual fireworks show. Then about 10 til midnight they had another fireworks show that was just amazing! At midnight I got my New Year's kiss and then started blowing my horn celebrating the new year. Next thing I knew, my FI turned my around and got down on his knees...it was the best thing ever and I'll never forget it! In case I do though, my parents got it on tape. Disney World is such a magical place and that day I truly felt like a princess :)

Haha I hear ya! I thought "oh man, let's get married where we got engaged." but it's definitely way over my price range. I keep telling my mom though that she needs to win the lottery before our wedding then I will have it there!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
