Hi everyone,

This is my third attempt a posting pictures so I'm going to keep this short in case I lose everything again embarrest.gif Anyway, we had our STD's made in January and though we were happy with how they turned out, they ended up being really expensive (and the customer service was crap!) We wanted a magnet STD so people would put it on their fridge instead of stashing it in a drawer... didn't, however, like the quality of the full-page magnet the store printed on - so we went with a magnet strip across the back. Also, I knew that the idea of a save-the-date would be foreign to some of our guests, so I printed a little explanation on clear labels and stuck them on the backs of the cards.

Our invitations were a completely different experience! I was happy to DIY my invites but didn't want to be typical... I also wanted to find a way to tie them into our STD's even though they weren't going to completely match (since going back to the same place was not an option). I happened to stumble upon The Uncommon Bride - a website with some original DIY kits. My experience with Patti Nott at theuncommonbride.com was absolutely incredible! She was quick to answer any questions I had and I was thrilled with her product and how they turned out! I ended up ordering the 'Paige' and the 'RSVP' DIY kits.

Everything stacked nicely in the petalfold... My fiance also found a little fish embosser/hole punch. We punched out a ton of them and included a few in each invitation... little fishies swam out as people opened their invites - they LOVED them!

In the RSVP envelope we included the RSVP (which reads 'Accepts: Here are the names of those of us who look forward to sun-kissed skin and are hoping to join you in November!' 'Regrets: Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend, but will be thinking of you as we prepare our snow shovels for the long season ahead!'). We also included 'A wish for the Bride and Groom' (some had red fish, others had orange) as well as an explanation card, asking that people send along a wish on the back of the cards for us to hang on our wishing tree at our D.R. reception.

Thanks everyone! I put a lot of thought into them and it's so nice to hear so many compliments!!

Stephanie, we've heard great things about the Palladium resorts so far - hopefully your parents are in agreement.

The embosser was from Michael's (I believe it was part of the Martha Stewart collection)... They've started to come back with the RSVP's and I'm trying so hard not to peek! It's sooo hard though - especially since some people have gotten creative (adding little heart shaped bubbles coming out of the fishies' mouths - too friggen cute!).

As for the Uncommon Bride, I'm really pleased with the quality of her work - she was so efficient! And a fellow Canadian girl (based out of Calgary)!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
