Hahaha, between, me, you and THE INTERNET! hhahahhahaaa. But I know what you mean. I am probably like that. I complain when I don't know anything about my friends, but I never call anyone unless it's a special occasion. I always make a phone call on birthdays or special days, but never to just chit chat. But I also always call my friends when I have news to tell, I don't wait for them to call me. So I feel like I do my part.

But I hear ya on your example. It's not like you could text all that important stuff to someone. How is Chuck doing, btw? (Totally high-jacking your thread!)

Now that I moved across the country from most of my friends and family, and have an iphone I'm on email and Facebook a lot more. It is nice to post a quick status that they can read and know what is going on in my life. When I lost my job, I posted and a bunch of people reached out to me to try and help put me in contact with people they knew in AZ. It was actually pretty amazing. I still like to get some phone time with my friends and have probably talked to them more since I haven't been working. I was on the phone all day when I was working so talking on the phone was the last thing I wanted to do when I wasn't. Sending an email or a FB message is just easier sometimes.

I also HATE talking on the phone, so I don't mind emails/texts/etc. But overall I prefer to see and talk to my friends and family in person, so I hate that some friends would rather go into a whole drama via email rather than just meet me for coffee. I hate the whole back and forth email thing. It's my preferred method of communication for simple stuff, but more in depth conversations I'd rather have in person.

I do hate that I wouldn't even know what was happening with some of my friends if it weren't for facebook. Like if I want to know something I have to check their facebook updates instead of having them tell me personally. That's lame.

Carly, I email myself all the time. Instead of leaving myself sticky notes, I email myself. I figure it's easier because I can access the info anywhere (at home or out on my phone) AND I'm helping the environment by not wasting paper.

It's a win-win!

I totally wish that I was better with calling people. Sometimes I think about it and call everyone on the same day! I end up emailing and fb'ing a lot but I would prefer to see them in person or talk on the phone. My dh talks to his core group of friends every day, even if its just for a few minutes. He has like 7 or 8 people he talks to daily. It amazes me. I have no idea how he does it. He doesn't have a myspace or fb or anything though. He thinks that's "gay". lol I'm lucky if I talk to one person a day (other than dh of course). And I'm terrible with returning phone calls. Its really bad.

See I am a total phone person. I could talk on the phone all day every day...I did it for my job and would love if i could do it with all of my friends. But I know not everyone is not like me so that's why email, FB and myspace are great for keeping in touch. I email back ands forth with my one best friend daily, but we only catch up by phone once a week, and my other best friend and I pretty much only catch up via FB IM. But I talk to my mom on the phone all the time and some of my other friends.

Oh I HATE the phone too. I'm just not much of a chit chatter. I like to talk in person and tell stories, but on the phone, I get bored. I think it's because 1. I cant hear the phone well (now I sound like an old lady!) and 2. you lose the all the facial expressions, etc. that come when talking in person.

I much prefer text/email because it allows the other person to answer you at their leisure and allows you to respond when you want too. It's not like the phone where you have to drop everything you are doing and concentrate on the convo.

I kinda like the advances in technology. I know it's a little sad to think you can only stay connected because of technology, but at least it's some connection!

great question jackee!

i am SO electronically in the loop! which is funny cause up until about 2 years ago i was so out of it. we didnt have a computer or phones that did more than simple texting. but now that ive got a laptop, cool cell phone, ipod touch, im unstoppable haha wink.gif

i love using FB. i only wish more of my family were on it so i could make sure they all know what im up to. i try to update my status a couple times a day depending on whats going on. i guess i figure, im such a voyuer (sp?) that i love seeing pics, reading status, etc of everyone else, that they all should like to do the same of me as well!

i love being able to kit with people from my ipod touch as well, it gives me twitter, text, fb, myspace, everything except the phone.

as far as phone/in person chatting, i talk on the ohone A LOT to my hubby and my mom, but not many other people. i am BIG on texting, unless ive got a lot to say then email is easier to type it all out. i used to be big on the calling when i had a lot to say, but ever since we got a laptop and the forum came into my life, i find it so much easier and faster to communticate how i feel/what i want/what im talking about, when i can go back and edit and re-type what i meant! as long as you dont hit "send" until you're sure what you meant haha wink.gif

in person? sure, if it happens. its just that my life is so busy when im not at work, chasing around after the kids and doug, that i dont have a lot of free time to make "appointments" with my family and friends. my spare free time (when i can grab some) is spent doing laundry or napping! it sounds rude, but i dont want to be bothered by taking time away from my "me" time to catch up with my friends and family! i really dont mean it to be rude, its just that i dont have hardly any time for it! not that i dont love being with family and friends when i can, i just dont have time to so it makes it feel like a chore, kwim?

Ab - that's exactly right! It feels like a "chore" when it cuts into other things that you need to do/are doing.

We actually don't even have a land line cuz we use the phone so infrequently. I've been screwed before when my cell was misplaced cuz then I am really outta touch!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
