Hi Everybody!

My name is Leslie and I am getting married on June 3 of next year (2010) to a wonderful man named Chad who I have been with for 5 years:) We are planning on going to Maui for a week then we will move over to the Big Island for a week, we figure this is our one chance for a vacation as we will try to start a family very soon:). I am having such a difficult time knowing how to book the travel!! Has anyone used the DestinationWedings.com site? I have paid them the 50$ initial fee but am having second thoughts on the information they are giving me, I feel like I could find a better deal elsewhere!! Has anyone booked a destination wedding through Costco? My fiance and I are only paying for ourselves but really want to make sure that it is really affordable for our family and close friends as they are all young new families with smallish children!!

Oh I am full of questions!! Any help will be greatly appeciated!!! Can't wait to get to know everyone:)

Leslie:)

Welcome and congrats! This is such a great site and you will be able to plan your entire wedding here!

Ok, My two cents on DW.

I am using DW.com for our upcoming wedding. My entire party has booked through them. All 30 of us. My experience has been pretty good...some things I would change so not perfect. But overall I am pretty happy and stress free as far as the planning of the actual trip. My agent has been really great with responses. But I know some have had some not so good experiences. It sounds like hit or miss depending on who you get. But if you get a bad agent, I guess you can ask for someone new from what I have heard.

I got suckered in with the $50 fee...so that is what initially kept me with them. I am cheap! Didn't want to lose it so I stopped looking around. They do take the $50 off your balance when you pay for your trip so that is good to know.

OK, (hear say) if you decide not to use them, I did hear getting the money back is a pain. And I heard some lost their $50 deposit. But if another TA can save you money, the $50 may be a wash. Not sure why or the full details on getting the $50 back. I would assume your wedding date has to pass or something, then you have to claim it? Not sure about since we used their services.

I know that this awesome site has pros on all the great locations so they are here to help plan your dream trip too!

Good luck with your planning and have fun here!

Congratulations and Welcome!

I am also using DW.com.

I'd already picked the resort so I didn't need them for that. My TA has been very good at follow up so far - I haven't had anyone book yet so I can't tell you much yet.

Good Luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
