Anyone living in/around the Dallas area...

Hey ladies! So right before we left for our wedding we found out that we were being relocated to Dallas for my job...its actually a promotion, which is awesome, but I have never been to Dallas! I actually move at the end of the week and we're going to try to find a fun place to live. I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or ideas of good places to live (or places to avoid) in the DFW area. I'll be working at the Grand Hyatt DFW Airport property if that helps. Also, what are the best places to go for nightlife, dining, etc. I know Dallas is huge...DH and I have never lived in a city so large so we are super nervous! And, of course, if anyone wants to hang out I'm more than game - no friends or family in Dallas unfortunately. Thanks ladies!! smile03.gif

I have heard Grapevine is really awesome too! We are looking at places this weekend and hopefully it will go well. So far I've heard that the good places to look are Grapevine, Addison, Uptown, and Las Colinas (in Irving). Haha, all of that means nothing to me now since I've never seen these places but hopefully I'll find my way around!

Grapevine, Las Colinas, Valley Ranch will be good places to check out. It depends on how close you want to be to work. Uptown Dallas and Addison are pretty cool areas if you are into the urban lifestyle. Traffic pattern will be an important consideration too.

Hi Jessica&Adam!

I just moved to Dallas from Chicago (before that, I was in Toronto) in April! It was also job-related and I knew NO one. It was a big culture shock to me but, seeing that you are coming from San Antonio, the transition may be a bit easier for you...(meaning, I haven't owned a car in over 15 years!)

I did an extensive research as to where to live. I chose Uptown. It's young, fun, safe, and only neighborhood I found people WALK around! It is busy in main streets, but also very neighborhood-like and friendly.

Good luck with the move! and Congrats on your promotion!

Hey and Welcome to Dallas!!

Ive lived all over the nation and have to say Dallas is by far my favorite.

I can give you all kinds of pointers on where to look and where not to look. Ive lived here for several years and know all about the suburbs too. Ill pm you my email address and some info for ya to get ya started and if you have any questions just let me know. I know its super overwhelming looking for a new place. My family is military so I'd like to think Im a bit of an expert in the subject of picking up and moving. Oh and nightlife...Girl, you have no idea! I can even tell you the specials for specific days!! haha

Hi Ladies!

Just did a search for the DFW area and found this! We just moved to the Dallas area July 10th (hubby is also military) and are hopefully closing on a home in Rockwall later this month. It's great to hear such good things about Dallas. Since we're just coming from a year in Korea, I'm just SO happy to be back in the states. :)

I'd love to hear more, chat about wedding stuff, Dallas, meet new friends so let me know if you'd be up for getting together sometime or chatting online! Here's my facebook:

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
