Excursions

Recommended Posts

My fiance and I will be in Jamaica from March 26, 2010 through April 5, 2010 (possibly longer) which is 10 nights. We plan on relaxing but also checking out all the "to do" things in Jamaica. I know there was a thread just started about Rick's Cafe and Dunn's River Falls, but if anyone can provide any information like your experience and suggestions about the following that would be great!!

Rick's Cafe

Dunn's River Falls

Glistening Waters

Beach Horseback Riding

Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville

ATV adventures

Zip Lining

Black River

Appleton Estate Rum Tour

And anything else that I missed that would be worth while.

P.S. I have seen the websites that offer information for all of the above, but I would like your input whether you were there firsthand or heard it from a friend, relative, etc. who experienced these things firsthand.

Thanks!!!

Definitely do the Zip Lining, Its awesome!! We also enjoyed the dune buggies. Dunn's river was okay, its something that is associated with Jamaica, so it was nice to say we did it, but its really far from Negril. We stayed in Ocho Rios, so we didn't get a chance to go to Rick's Cafe, but I've heard is awesome. Look up Chukka Tours, thats who we used.

Rick's Cafe

Dunn's River Falls

Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville (I went to the one in Ocho Rios) but there is one in Negril

If that is your first time going, I would def say go to experience it ..so you can say you went ..

There are comparable falls to Dunn's River in Negril .. Mayfield I think is the closest, and then YS .. You can climb both I think ..probably double check on the websites .

If you feel comfortable ... Jungle (nightclub) on Thursdays in Negril is ladies night lol ... but packed with tourists too

You'll prob spend more time in town and at the hotel than doing tours .. your days go by so fast, after you have done 1 or 2 you pretty much toss the others out the window ...

i would def do the catmaran cruise to Rick's .. you get some snorkeling time in, time to see the sunset, then booze cruise back ..

We are planning on the zip line, Dunns River Falls, and horseback riding for Ochos Rios. Rick cafe, river tubing(with my 8 year old), Jungle club(night before wedding i& it's Thurs./ladies night), and checking out either the Mayfield/Y Falls.

Also, keep in mind there are things that you can also book on the grounds of your resort. I scheduled a "surprise" massage at the RPTB beach hut for my FI @ 10am-11am on our wedding day. This will keep him off the swim up bar for a bit before our 4pm ceremony! lol My evil plan. Then he can hit the buffet for lunch and shower/change.

When we are at the Sandals Ochos Rios, I want to plan a dinner on the beach for the night before we leave Jamaica.

Maybe you could do a couple's massage on the beach the day after your DW?

I contacted my travel vendor, Travel Impressions, and they are having a 50%off excursions through Chukka Tours for the zip lines and river tubing. So, maybe get ahold of your vendor and see if they're offering anything for a discount.

Good luck planning! Great ideas.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
