LeShay's RM Review - Part 3: DREAMS Cancun

Recommended Posts

I have to admit, I was completely shocked to see the heavy traffic outside of the resort. Dreams is located between two other huge hotels, which probably added to the congestion. I couldn’t help but think Vegas meets Miami. I had to continue to remind myself that it was Memorial Day weekend and my FI & I weren’t the only 2 on vacation. I also was not expecting the flea market across the street from the property. So my first impression driving up, did not give me that relaxed ‘I’m on vacation’ feeling I had hoped to give my guest’ – But more of the feeling ‘OMG, when are all these extra Memorial Day travelers leaving!?’ – I must say that security outside of the resort was strictly enforced, and you definitely could not get in with out being on the guest list.

Our official Dreams site visit appt. with WC: Claudia Cantillo was on Monday (5/2cool.gif. Claudia was a pleasure to work with and very patient. She showed us every aspect of wedding services & space the hotel had to offer, including guest rooms. Claudia mentioned the hotel was 100% booked, which was why it seemed congested.

As we walked around the property we started to understand how Dreams received its great reputation. The hotel was in full swing – In every direction we turned there was an exciting activity happening – from water aerobics, people swimming w/the dolphins, to the kids playing on what looked like a huge trampoline in the middle of the ocean. Although the majority of the Memorial Day Guests seemed to be in their 20s & 30s, I could visualize my entire family having a great time – from lounging, to water sports, to shopping (walking distance).

The wedding Gazebo was absolutely gorgeous! And so was the Terrace (cocktail hour), and the Garden. Claudia remained helpful, she walked us through every aspect of the property, even the spa – which looked incredible, it was totally a different world in there. All I could think of was relaxing with my bridesmaids the morning of my wedding followed by my couples massage later that night.

Claudia also showed us a guest room in the tower. The view of the Ocean was breathtaking, and the room was very nice – I loved the marble(ish) floors (also in the pictures).

After almost two hours of talking and walking, Claudia was gracious enough to feed us lunch at the pool side snack bar. The food was delicious.

So after venturing inside this property, I learned a valuable old lesson – ‘You can’t judge a book by it’s cover.’ Although the dreams was not tucked away giving more of the laid back resort feeling, this hotel offers many fun amenities for you & your guests! There’s something for everyone at the Dreams!

Please PM if you'd like me to forward you pics of the Dreams.

It sounds as though you really liked dreams. I stayed in Cancun, and I know what you mean I felt as though I was in the states (not the feel I wanted for my kids on their first caribbean vacation) But once in the resort and one look at the beautiful white sand and turquoise water, I was sold. It is mind boggling the two different worlds from one side of the resort to the other. If you are getting married in Cancun area, check out the Isle of Mujeries (island of women), for a wedding location, absolutely breathtaking!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
