How could I be so stupid?

I have no idea how I could have been so stupid....I went to an event on friday night and then to dinner. All of these events were in Beverly Hills (where I work) and then we went to another restaurant/club in a somewhat seedy area of Los Angeles. (definately not my idea, which is why I usually drive my own car!) I left my briefcase in the car and of course it was stolen. They broke the window of the truck and took my briefcase and my girlfriend's purse. I am so bummed! Of course besides all the usual headache of replacing id and cancelling credit cards I added to my worries because I left my checkbook and keys in the car( I was riding with one of my male friends). Therefore I had to replace the locks on the doors because my checkbook with my address was in my briefcase. I am just kicking myself! I was at the dmv yesterday today I am going to social security.

 

The things that can be replaced but just p..sed me off:

 

I had just went to the post office on friday to purchase the stamps for my invitations and rsvp cards!!

 

I had the gift cards from my birthday and christmas in my wallet. I was saving these to buy honeymoon stuff. Gift cards to Victoria's secret, Macys and Bath and bodyworks, PF Chang, and Katana--(my fave restaurant)

 

My new business cards and card case.

 

The earrings that i had just found for my BM's!

 

Medication (that my copay after the insurance coverage is $275.)

 

My makeup bag, which included all of my brushes and the new makeup I had purchased for the wedding.

 

My appointment book, I am so lost without it!

 

Car keys and about $160 cash...I had taken 200 out of the bank for weekend and took 40 inside just in case I needed some $.

 

A photo of my cousin as a child who just passed away this year. (unreplaceable)

 

Needless to say I am so sad and mad at myself. Its like I am walking around naked. I have to go back to that neighborhood today to file a police report. FI is in law enforcement and said that I should definately report it. I don't think I will get any of the items back so I did not think it was important. But since my social security card was in my wallet it makes my identity easier to steal.

 

Well thanks for listening ladies. It felt good just to vent. I can't say too much to FI because he thinks I am an idiot for leaving it in the car.

I'm really sorry that happened to you. but dont be mad at yourself you didnt do anything wrong, the dirtbag that broke the law is who you should be mad at. I'm truly sorry that you lost your cousin's picture i know that must of meant a lot to you.

Awww....... I am sorry sweetie and NO you are NOT stupid. I know it sounds cliche, but stuff happens. I know that you had a high monetary of what was taken from you, but I am happy you weren't taken. Except for your precious photo it can all be replaced. Is there anything that any of us can do to help? ((( HUGS )))

OMG!!!! I am sooo sooo sorry what a pain in the ASS!!! I'm glad you are getting it all taken care of!

 

this is a good reminder for me. I file our social security cards birth certificates, etc but sometimes need them and often forget to put them back and I keep alot of crap in my huge ass purses. I should probably clean it out!

Oh you poor thing. You must feel absolutely horrendous and completely violated. I hope they do catch who every did this. I do not understand why people cannot be more helpfull like the girls on this forum! I hope everything turns out alright for you.
