Hi ladies!!!

I am in the process of doing my invitations and I was wondering when I should send them out. Since its a destination wedding, I feel like I should be sending them out a lot earlier than one would for a normal wedding. I want to make sure that everyone has enough time to make travel arrangements/get passports, since January is high season for Cancun. But we did send save the dates to everybody in April, so they have plenty of fair warning.

So for those of you already married or already sent out invites, how long before your wedding did you send them out?

THANKS!!!

Not sure what the proper procedure is on this....but I would say since you already sent out the STD cards in advance, you can send out the invites much closer to the date. I know for a local wedding it's usually about 8 weeks before the date.

But also take into account if/when you want your rsvp's due by. If you have to give a final count to a vendor 2 weeks in advance...then I'd request your rsvp's a week before that would be due. In which case you might even send out the invites a week or so earlier.

That probably sounded confusing!! Sorry! I think 8 weeks out is a good minimum. .. earlier if you need a head count at a certain time.

Im not doing Save the dates. I'm just doing an invitation with a wedding resort information insert. They will be done in a week or 2 and I will send them out right away. We promised everyone about a year's advance notice - and I don't have the time to do both a STD and a invite!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
