Gifts at DW reception vs. AHR???

Recommended Posts

So I was chatting with my MOH this weekend about random details for both my DW reception in Mexico and my AHR. I'm definitely going to have a gift table and birdcage of some sort for the AHR but I'm kind of torn on what to do for the DW reception. I certainly don't expect my guests attending the DW to get us gifts, but I understand that some inevitably will. I don't think that they would schlep actual gifts down to Mexico, but maybe some will bring cardshuh.gif I'm just wondering if it would be presumptuous and unnecessary to set up some sort of gift table at the DW reception. What have other people done about this? Thoughts?

OMG....i am so glad that someone asked this question, i was thinking that i also shouldnt have a gift table @ my DW....i just did not want my guests to buy gifts, since they will be paying to come to my wedding......so i definetly will not have a gift table.........if i happen to get some gifts i will have someone be the delegated card holder :)wink.gif

ps.....1 of my best frineds is having a DW in Savannah Georgia and she informed me that people really want to give gifts @ weddings, so she set up a website where family/friends who couldnt make it to the DW, can send money 2 donate to her honeymoon......dont know how i feel about this, someone let me knowhuh.gifhuh.gif?

Even though everyone did bring something I don't think I would have set up a gift table, just have a plan where to keep them and who's in charge of any gifts you get. we didn't have an AHR so that could have been the reason why we got so much in Jamaica.
My daughter did exactly the same thing. Gave all the cards to me the day of the wedding. The next morning I still had them and was about the leave the room when I suddenly thought about the cards and threw them in the safe. Good job as some of them had cash in them. So I'd tell whomever is in charge of the cards to put them in the safe just in case!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
