So I was chatting with my MOH this weekend about random details for both my DW reception in Mexico and my AHR. I'm definitely going to have a gift table and birdcage of some sort for the AHR but I'm kind of torn on what to do for the DW reception. I certainly don't expect my guests attending the DW to get us gifts, but I understand that some inevitably will. I don't think that they would schlep actual gifts down to Mexico, but maybe some will bring cards I'm just wondering if it would be presumptuous and unnecessary to set up some sort of gift table at the DW reception. What have other people done about this? Thoughts?

I didn't. We got a couple of cards and they gave it to us the day after.... I know some of the people that attended our DW gave us gifts but either sent it to our home or gave at AHR. So I wouldnt bother!

I wouldnt bother either. We wont set up anything, and the last wedding I was just at in mexico there wasnt a table either and we all just gave them their cards the day after the wedding.

I was thinking about this too -but I think I'll skip setting something up at the DW. Like the other girls said, if anyone brings a card, they could give it to you the next day.

I told the wedding party and parents that if anyone asks, we are registered at Macy's and Target and to please ship gifts to our home before April 25th or after May 10th.

OMG....i am so glad that someone asked this question, i was thinking that i also shouldnt have a gift table @ my DW....i just did not want my guests to buy gifts, since they will be paying to come to my wedding......so i definetly will not have a gift table.........if i happen to get some gifts i will have someone be the delegated card holder :)

ps.....1 of my best frineds is having a DW in Savannah Georgia and she informed me that people really want to give gifts @ weddings, so she set up a website where family/friends who couldnt make it to the DW, can send money 2 donate to her honeymoon......dont know how i feel about this, someone let me know?

Even though everyone did bring something I don't think I would have set up a gift table, just have a plan where to keep them and who's in charge of any gifts you get. we didn't have an AHR so that could have been the reason why we got so much in Jamaica.
My daughter did exactly the same thing. Gave all the cards to me the day of the wedding. The next morning I still had them and was about the leave the room when I suddenly thought about the cards and threw them in the safe. Good job as some of them had cash in them. So I'd tell whomever is in charge of the cards to put them in the safe just in case!

I wouldnt sent up a table. I had a DW and didnt have an AHR. I only had one guest give me a card at the wedding, the rest mailed cards to us after we got home. But i lilke Maureen's idea of designating someone to keep them for you just in case.
