Help me if you can, please!

and i wanted to add that you have to be really careful about postings on CL..

yesterday in the new there was an woman 8 months pregnant that went to pick up some used baby clothes and she was killed and her baby was cut out of her and died as well.

also, haven't you seen any of those "forensic files", "CSI: Miami" or even "Walker Texas Ranger" episodes about the serial killers that pose as photogs to do free boudoir/model shots.

That is really scary and sad Tammy! Yeah, I hope he didn't just use your pictures for his personal use. Did you get any references from other clients? Did you see any actual clients come to his "studio" while you were there(like to pay, pick up pictures, etc)? I hope he isn't a phony that took advantage.

I don't really remember what the verbal agreement was between you guys, but didn't he clearly say he was doing this for portfolio reasons?

6 hours of shooting really means nothing. Especially if he's just starting out in BD shooting. And if he doesn't have a studio and is just learning the lighting and things like that. Plus, it seriously takes FOREVER to edit BD photos if you are going to REALLY edit them. So, if I were to offer a complete free session just for my portfolio, I would only edit the photos I needed as well. It would be the best 30 out of the 400 I might have taken, but I wouldn't spend an extra 6 hours of my time editing a few extra photos. If you paid me $400 for the CD... okay, then I'll do it.

I agree with Tammy Host-- this photog seemed sketchy from the get-go and despite everyone's warnings, you decided to go with him anyhow. And now you're upset that he's not moving mountains for free and are expecting us to side with you.

I think it's time for you to own this bad decision and move on. If you get your book, then great but without a contract or payment then there is nothing to go on. You put six hours of time into it but if he is legit, it will take him much much longer to work on the photos and then make a book from them. If you want a book so badly, why don't you use a service like blurb.com and make it yourself?

Okay, so I just got my message about her getting her book. I am soooo happy for her. From what I gather from her, he is reading this post and if he is, why hasn't he contacted me to find out the deal? Also, he told her he was waiting on me to give him the okay to order the book.....why did he tell me on the 27th that my book was ordered. I will be calling him on my lunch break and will hopefully have this resolved.

Another thing I will point out is, I am happy I did this, I have no regrets with doing the shoot, the only regret I DO have is not having anything in writing. I was really pleased with my pictures and he is talented, but lack of communication between he and a client seems to be an issue. I hope we have BOTH learned from this and will help with his work ethic.

I just got off the phone with him...basically it was lack of communication between us. I sent him the email with my quote and thought I included in there the approval to order the book....he said he didn't want to order the book without me actually 'saying' the words I approve. He is going to order my book tonight and I should have it at my house on Tuesday. smile29.gif I guess a lack of communication along with assuming things got the better of me this time. I guess what they say is true....If you assume you make an ASS OUT OF YOU AND ME. Thanks for everybody's input and hope this doesn't happen again to anybody.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
