Sheena, let me know if you get any more photos, I'm not a fan of the flowered arch location for the ceremony, I'd like to know if they have a nicer location for that part.

Anyone know of an off site bakery? I have a feeling I'd like something more elaborate than what they provide!

Thanks for the photos, Sheena, Elba had sent those to me as well. I'm pretty much going to copy that wedding set-up, although I'm flip flopping between the flowered arch shown in the pics or a chuppa/pavilon type thing with flowers.

I was just planning to use the florist & bakery that's included in the wedding package, I'm not too picky about flowers or the cake.

The thing I'm most picky about is the music, I found a violinist who's pretty reasonable and now I need to match him up with Elba

Rae:

I'll definitely keep you posted with pics.

I'm not a fan of the arch either - its too bushy for my taste.

I was thinking about doing something like this:

I thought the cake in the pics was not bad at all. Although i don't plan on paying extra for the cake since it seems other brides have said it was a waste cos people we full from dinner and drinks so didn't end up eating the cake. I'm just having the cake for 20 people even though i'm expecting 50-80 lol.

Enough rambling... the only bakery i know of is in Akumal - not sure if they deliver to Isla

Wedding and Special Occation Cakes

Seems like everyone who goes there loves it!

Tina:

Have you received any info on the flowers? Are you getting a dj?

Hi Sheena,

Haven't heard back about the flowers. The flowered arch in the pictures is the one included in the package, and Elba's going to try to see if she can get me a chuppa/pavilon type thing (sort of like in your pic!) for free.

I probably will get a dj, but I'm going to try to get a sense of his music type, etc before committing.

My FI and I are debating having a band come out at the end of the ceremony, during the cocktail hour. Our friend had a mariachi band come out at the end and it made things feel very celebratory and exciting!

Sheena, totally agree with you on the cake, I've heard that folks don't really pay attention to it since they're so stuffed by the end (especially at an AI!)

Hey Tina!

Please do, I'd love to see what you have. rachellchrist@gmail.com

I emailed Elba about a month ago for some feedback and she told me I could bring in my own flowers (wholesale) and decorations at no additional charge and that they would set them up for me at no additional charge. Might be an option depending on what they have to offer. Have either of you received a price list for flowers or decor?

Any updates on the other link for more pictures?

From their blog it was hard to tell where the reception was. Was it an inside, outside type location? If so, that would be cool. In a perfect world, I'd love to do the dinner, first dance, toasts all inside with AC, and then open doors to the patio/deck once the dancing begins. That way people can float in and out.

Sorry I have been MIA. I have been traveling for the last 3 weeks (work). Hope yall are doing well!

Best,

Rachel

Hey Kathleen, Elba's email address is elba.machado@privilegehotels.com.

Tina, Yes! Please send me the menus - sheena.anderson@gmail.com. Thanks!

Rachel, that's really cool about the flowers - where are you getting them from, if you don't mind me asking?

I love how accommodating they are - it's such a relief to finally find a place where they respond on time and are happy to do anything for you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
