I just found a travel agent that specializes in destination weddings and will hopefully be sending out my preliminary STDs next week (after we finally set a guest list)! Plus I am going dress shopping this Saturday! :)

Thank you all for your wonderful advice... I am so excited to start planning. I should have taken better notes as I read though things... but I'm just wondering what your approximate timeline for planning was? When did you first contact Chandyln... book your wedding time and reception... have all your guests book...and all that stuff? I am really worried that my friends will procrastinate deciding to go and actually booking... did you have troubles with that?
Hey Becky! I am a fellow 2009 bride at ROR. I haven't been able to book my 2009 time yet. Riu said they may allow booking sometime between January and April. Is your date of the 5th confirmed or is that just the day you are hoping for? I just want to be able to pick a date so I can start ordering things like STD.

Hi, So Far We Are Getting Married At The Gazebo With The "free Wedding Package" I Would Like To Have The Steel Band Before & After The Ceremony ( 1 Hr) Does Anyone Know What The Cake Looks Like And How I Can Obtain A Picture Of It? Also, The Wedding Takes Place At 1:30, So I Was Thinking About Having Cocktails/appetizers By The Pool For About An Hour. Hopefully I Can Book The Wedding For Later TIME.

Hi Christene,

No I haven't confirmed the 5th... I heard i would have to wait until February-March as well. I'm just hoping at the moment... I decided to do my preliminary save the dates with the week that we will be going. I then included a letter explaining the details and letting them know we will hopefully be doing the wedding on either the 5th or the 6th... that way people have a general time frame so they can plan what they want to do. I am collecting email addresses of all potential guests and will probably send out an e-vite STD of somesort with the actual date when we are able to confirm it with Riu.

I will let you know when I am able to book. Would you do the same?

We couldn't book our April 2008 date until May 2007. They seem to only do things 1 year ahead of time! And it's ALL done electronically, so make sure you keep checking Wedding Packages by Destination. Honeymoon Holidays. Weddings by Riu to book your date. rolleyes.gif

New question....

I got a quote from my TA about upgrading mine & Reggie's room. Right now, we have a Junior Suite. For an extra $898.68, we can get the suite. And for an extra $1248.68, we can get the Jacuzzi suite. What do you think? Worth the upgrade? If so, which one??

I'm sure we've all poured over these descriptions and photos before, but here they are again, for a refresher:

Junior Suites feature bathrooms with a whirlpool tub, separate standing shower, bidet, double sink, make up mirror and hair dryer. Room amenities include closet with safety deposit box, extra pillows and blankets, iron and ironing board, liquor dispenser and minibar. A step down living room area with sofa leads to a balcony with chairs for your enjoyment.

Suites: Twice as large as the Junior Suite, these rooms feature bathrooms with a whirlpool tub, separate standing shower, bidet, double sink, make up mirror, hair dryer and plush bath robes. Room amenities include closet with safety deposit box, extra pillows and blankets, and iron and ironing board. A large step down living room area with a sofa leads to a terrace with lounge chairs.

The junior suites look nice. I bet it would be nice to have double the size, especially if you and your BM are getting ready there. To me it wouldn't really make a difference re the jacuzzi. I don't think with the heat I will want to be anywhere else but the ocean. With the suite it would be nice to have a little private space for sun tanning with the lounge chairs. You and your sweetie can sneak out there at night for a comfortable drink and a beautiful sunset.

Hey I guess if you are going to spend 900 why not splurg for the 1300. Oh I don't know I can never make a decision smile105.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
