April 2010 Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi there everyone- I'm an April bride too. I completely hear you all about the stress factor, my supposed-to-be stress free DW has practically turned into a part-time job these last few weeks. I'm hoping it will get easier shortly now that I've checked most of the big jobs off of my list, but who knows. I'll need the vacation once the wedding rolls around at this rate!

LOL! I'm telling the FI that we (I since I'm planning the whole thing) will need a vacation before our wedding for a break from all the planning and stress.

Wondering if there's anything I missed!!

Tracy & Meghan:

If you guys figure out what you're doing for flowers let me know...I can't decide either!
Tracy I'm with you on the cost...the fake one's are pretty expensive and pretty much equal in cost to the Resorts fresh flowers. Real Touch are not at the Michael's here in Calgary either. I have a ton of flowers to do...well nothing elaborate but 14 boutonnieres and 8 flowers for women (corsages?) and 5 bridesmaid bouquets - I swear I might as well outfit the entire resort with flowers!!! lol
If you Canadian gals find some nice real looking flowers for a good deal - like CHEAP!! lol
Let me know and I'll forward you any info I find!!
You must have dollar stores there right? It's where I got my flowers. Maybe you can go look around. I made the centerpieces and the BM bouquet. I figured I'd just buy the Bout's at the resort since they are only $6
this is what they came out. I figure for the BM only cost me 3$ bouquet, and the same for the centerpiece (plus the vase ,1.25$) they aren;t the best but hey they were cheap, so good enough lol!

Seriously! I'm really thinking about some time off right before the wedding, and I think FI owes me a spa day for the work I've been putting in! He has been a great help, but still, a lot of the work has fallen on me. Oh well, it'll all be worth it!

Hey Everyone,

Sorry I've been absent for a while. I've been catching up on the thread and its making nervous i haven't been doing anything for my wedding! I have some questions.

1. What's the draw for the fake flowers? Part of the reason I choose the destination wedding was the beautiful real tropical flowers! i'm assuming they're cheaper in Mexico, is that not the case?

2. How are you making OOT bags with out knowing how many people are coming? I figured I'd start in Feb/March after the RSVP's are due. is that too late? what's the delivery time for most of you items?

3. did anyone send out a reminder email to their guests make sure they have up-to-date passports? i want to do that soon and am looking for wording...

Thanks so much!

Sarah

seriously guys. I'm off of work for medical leave.I have the time to make your flowers for you, I can even buy them here at the dollar store, called dollar rama. I'm sure we can arrange shipping them. I'm sure it woldn't cost to much.

The store has amazing flowers to pick from. You would just have to let me know what flowers you want and an idea of the bouquet style.

Welcome Back Sarah!!
1)I didn't mind buying the BM bouquet at the resort, they were $35 and I only have 3 girls so that was fine, what got to me was the centerpieces (65$) so I said I could make them myself, thats when I realized I could also make the BM bouquet for 5$ as suppose to $35. So I was just saving allot of money. You can get all your flowers at the resort.
2)I have a few for sure people who will be coming, they are trust worthy to their word. So I have just bought a few things for that many people. And if more decide at the last min I will just have to get the rest closer to time. I ordered a few things, and I only took maybe less then a week to get in. If you start at the begining of March, you'll have plenty of time!
3)I haven't yet.I wont either because I realized most of our guest knew the rsvp were due today, no one cares, they said they will rsvp when they do (Nice huh!!) I would think it's a good idea to send a reminder, unless you have guest like me, then there is no point.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
