Do you have a veil yet? Or -- if a close friend / sister / sister in law has been married and they had a nice hair piece accessory you could look at borrowing that?

I saw a cute idea that could combine almost all: old, borrowed and blue -- if somebody in your family has a nice brooch/pin you can pin it to the underside of your dress with a blue ribbon - then it knocks off most of the list -- or you could buy a new brooch and pin the blue ribbon under your dress.
I've gotten off topic a little here... sorry!

Here's mine:
Old: Necklace and earrings
Borrowed: necklace and earrings - unless I can borrow another piece of jewelry
Blue: necklace and earrings (they have a blue diamond in the middle)
New: dress and shoes

Jenna - that's a really good idea about getting the vacuum packages for your towels! I really liked that idea but wasn't sure how I'd have gotten them all packed so you answered that question!

All of your to-do lists seem so easy right now compared to mine! Maybe it's because I haven't written out an updated one recently enough but all I keep thinking is how much I still have left and how little time I have to get it all done. I'm always so busy in the evenings that it just doesn't leave me time to get much accomplished.

This weekend is a write-off as well since I've got my stagette all day Saturday and through the evening. My sister (and MOH) has been working SO HARD to get all of it planned and then yesterday I nearly called off the whole thing. FI got back from his boys weekend and lets just say that it did not go over well for me. I'm in a seriously bad place with a whole bunch of our friends right now (the guys who planned his weekend) but am stuck because all their effort really meant a lot to FI. If our wedding was a week away I probably wouldn't even want them there. It's that bad. BUT I'm working on sucking it up because of how important it was to FI and so the show must go on - which means for me too! The girls were all keeping it a surprise but yesterday my sister told me because she was just too excited! Haha! We're going to play PAINT BALL and then go to her house and get cleaned up, hot tub, get ready for dinner and then go ROLLER SKATING!!!!! Both of those were my suggestions/requests for events to do and I get them BOTH so I'm really pumped. We're all dressing up in 70's costumes for roller skating too so it should be pretty funny to see everyone.
I'm really sorry things didn't turn out the way you wanted, and now your stuck in not such a good place. What exactly happen if you mind sharing? if not I completely understand!

I am sure you'll get your list done before the due date, no worries.
I too completely lost a weekend (this past weekend) from my bachelorette, so I can relate.
I am so happy your girls are doing exactly what you requested, those are good friends!! friday.gif
Your going to have so much fun, and finally get to relax, not think about wedding stuff, or last weeks bachelore party!
I've been sleeping like a baby ever since my party lol. I am sure you will to

Tracy- glad to hear the bachelorette went well! pinkie.gif

I don't have much left on my to-do list.

- Shopping (when we're in Halifax) for some more things to wear while we're in Cuba
-FI's suit (also just getting this in Hali when we get there)
-print out programs and menu and add ribbon (they're all ready to go, just waiting until the last minute in case anything changes at the resort end)
-tie welcome tags/ thank you tags to favours and welcome gifts. (My mugs are in NS so I'll have to do this at FMIL's house the weekend before we leave- but she'll probably help me with it and she's really good at that sort of thing).
-finalize our Ipod playlist- this is almost done, just tweaking it now
-I need a necklace to wear with my dress and I can't decide whether to order it now or to buy it in Halifax.

I'm still waiting for a few things that I've ordered to get here in the mail, too. My hair combs, parasols for MH and myself, my ring bowl, some rose petals, a silk pocket square for FI, a floral brooch for MOH, a T-shirt for FI (just a joke gift) and my wedding night lingerie embarrest.gif. I love getting things in the mail!
Thanks Mel, Party was exactly what I needed lol (minus the hang over)

Your list also looks pretty managable! How long do you expect your order to take to come in? like I was saying I'm waiting for 6 out of towners to see if they are booking, they said they will if they book it'l be 2-3 weeks before the trip.If they come I have to run away making their OOT bags, I'd have to order the bags from vista print, I hope I'd have enough time before we left.
I'm also waiting for my order from weddingstar, can take 3-4 weeks (if 4 it'll be the week we leave!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Most of my orders should be in this week or next week so I should have plenty of time. The only thing I'm worried about is the MOH brooch- I couldn't find one I liked so I ordered a custom made one from an etsy seller and it wont be done for a few weeks. If it's not here before we leave town I'll just get my MOH to check my mail for it- she's leaving a week or so after us so that should give us enough time as long as they don't stop it at customs.

My something old: my great aunt's bracelet

My something new: well that's an easy one!

My something borrowed: my mom's purse

My something blue: I'm still working on this one. Perhaps some sort of shoe decor. I'm not wearing a garter so I can't go that route. I'd better figure it out soon!

Paint Ball and Roller skating for your bachelorette party sounds like sooo much fun! That was very cool of your friends to plan that (even if it was your idea :)

The short story of the bachelors weekend - I made one request of the guys ahead of time = NO ONE IN FI'S PERSONAL SPACE. I tried to be nice about that which may have been my downfall. The guys had a ski chalet rented and for some reason thought I would be okay with it if they paid for a private stripper to come in, serve drinks and give FI a lap dance. Clearly you can all guess how I reacted. FI has been excellent and told me everything as soon as he got home. Obviously he had no idea what they were planning either or he'd have taken more care to make sure they didn't do something like this. So now I'm furious with the guys who planned it, knowing full well ahead of time that I didn't approve, and they don't seem to think they did anything wrong in the first place. Plus, each of them has told their significant others varying degrees of details which leaves me struggling because these other girls are my friends too. Basically we're on the brink of WW3 over here and somehow it will end up being my fault I'm sure.

P.s. for those of you who remember my ranting about the BM and her husband who were both laughing at me for being upset at not knowing the details of his weekend ahead of time? Well the husband was one of the guys who planned the private stripper (and rumor has it the one who booked her) and we are fairly confident the BM knew from the start. Is anyone else surprised that I want her out of my wedding party??

Onwards... I'm am really excited for roller skating and paint ball. I always thought it was so unfair that the guys got to do fun stuff like this and it never seemed to be the girls. I think we have at least 10 or 12 girls for the entire day/evening. Should be interesting too since I fully plan on drinking and saying whatever the hell comes to mind - and I'm not going to care who's girlfriends are listening either!

Meghan,

I am so sorry it went down like that, I know what you mean, seems like the guys who are totally unhappy in their marriage is the one who wants the stippers, and who go out of their way to make damn sure there will be one.

I am sure you FI didn't enjoy a single moment of that part, clearly he didn't as he came straight home and told you. You def can trust the person your about to marry, but I think this is clearly telling you who your good friends are and who isn't worth your time or your friendship anymore.

I know for me,my wedding was a big test on who is my true friend and who really isn't.

I say go out have a great time, get smash and def speak your mind.. you have every right.

Clearly, this isn't the FI fault, like you said if he was aware he would have made sure things had turned out differently, so try and not try the frustration out on him (as hard as that is, I know lol)

I'm starting to think, and Jack and Jill party is the way to go lol. my FI had a horrible time at his party, didn't even get drunk.. no one else was really drinking. I told him I'd make it up to him how some lol. I'll take him to a strip club and get him drunk before we head down south.

I can completely understand why you wouldn't want her to be a BM anymore, and honestly.. maybe I'd be wrong, but if she isn't doing her duties in being a friend, I would have every right to kick her out of the party, I know you'll do what you think is right and best. But if you do decide to do that, just remember it's your wedding and you want your 'friends' by your side, and you can do whatever pleases you, your the BRIDE after all!!!

Suzy, you knew what was going on for the bachelore party? so confused by your comment lol!!

Ok I'll copy this list and save it. Hopefully no one else has been cut off. And congrats to the new comer!!! :) :)

That's so cool guys your wedding twins and on the same resort!! you'll have to have a meet and greet, if there is time! lol!!!

Mel,

Hope everything comes in on time, especially the piece for you MOH, keep us posted!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
