Meghan, Sorry to hear about the light fiasco. Hopefully, the quality will be worth the money spent.

Erin, have fun at the wedding!

Shannon, loved your e-pics. Looked like your FI had so much fun striking a pose by himself. Those were too funny.

Suzy, I have a cousin named Martez, but I donâ€t think the name was chosen for any particular meaning. I think his Mom just liked that name.

Since then we have booked the resort in Jamaica and the wedding is set for April 1, 2010! April Fools day has always been "our" day so we thought is was fitting. Today was the first day people were able to contact the TA and apparently we have had almost 18 people book so far. Yay! We are expecting about 40 people or so. The STD's went out and through an E-vite with the TA info and so far so good. I am 5 1/2 months away, no dress or shoes or anything but I'm not stressing oddly enough. LOL I think I'll wait for all of that until the new year. Right now once we have final numbers from the TA I will start the DIY invitations. There was some pretty good ideas on other forums here that I have made note of so I'm pretty excited. After the invitations go out in mid to late November I will breath easy. Booking the place was the hard part. But so far everything is coming together!
Welcome to the thread! Wow, 18 booked in less than one month… You are on a roll!

Shortnsweet - you have a cousin with that name!! Awesome! I've never actually heard of the name before we were pregger's but it's always the name we came back to and it stuck! It's definitely not going to be a name we find on a toothbrush - that's for sure!! lol

Tracy, love the postcards - not sure if I already made a comment on them - but I think you could totally add them to your OOT bags if you wanted, as a souvenir and as an invite to your AHR! I love the colors...and I don't remember that design on vistaprint!! I can't wait to get mine!!!

You still haven't paid the duty fee!!! which will probably cost you about $25-40
The company I bought the invites from never said anything to do with more money, I called them and said it wasn't up to them to let me know, they wouldn't even know how much it cost!! sooo frustrating, this is why I'm only looking for canada websites to order, tote bags, travel mugs.
sorry you had to go through that!!!sad.gif I really hope the lights are worth it, and you really like them!
Ugh what a pain in the ass! I've ordered things from the US before and NEVER had issues like these! And I'm talking snowboarding equipment and clothing running above $500 an order EASILY! What a joke!

But I do appreciate the warning at least because I had another package just arriving today and got the UPS notice for the COD amount that I owe sad.gif At least this one is being split between a few of us that got an order in together!! We've got another big order going in soon as well for advil/immodium etc from a US company so no doubt that will be one that is good to split the costs on too. Stupid US duty taxes.

Prob just jinxed myself :o(
Don't worry Suzy, I haven't quite gotten the order in yet (still waiting on one person for their numbers) but I'll let you know the prices once I get them. And this is the first time that I've had to pay for anything at the door or at pickup sad.gif

On a separate note, here is a photo of what I want to make for my centrepieces. Except in this picture they have a pink light and mine will be purple. Also, this one uses the 'ice cube' lights that I also liked, but didn't have as long of a battery life, can't be turned on/off etc. (yep, still trying to convince myself that the lights I bought will be worth it, haha!)

Echo- Sorry to hear about the light fiasco. It'll be worth it!

Erin- Let us know how the cake turns out :)

Tracy- The AHR postcards look great!

Speaking of Invitations... I'm thinking of sending out invitations early January, and asking for an RSVP by Feb 1. I don't want to send them out too early and have noone respect the RSVP date. Is this too late?

Meghan - I LOVE YOUR centerpieces, they'll look absolutely beautiful and I'm sure many people will comment!! Also have you figured out anything for bags yet? I'm still searching, I want to go and check out those bags at La Vie en rose, but I'm going to the states soon so I really think I'll get a smokin' deal there!!

Kimmy, I mailed my invites out a while ago, like I think in Aug - but I'm OCD, and for RSVP I put Feb 2010....I think Jan might be a little too late but that's just me. If most of the people your inviting already know and are booking then there's no huge rush!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
