I think I really like the 'mint to be' idea. I just have to look for it now, so if any of you find the thread, pls pass it along.
I have the fans in the OOT bag for the woman. I actually was walking on St-Hubert street and walk into a chiness (those cool stores) and found the fans on sale for $.99
Just keep looking Jodi, you'll find them somewhere. Where exactly are you? I have a friend in Ireland (his actually coming to the wedding) if your close enough I am sure he can look into it for me to find you certine things (his pretty good and helpful like that, his my bro from a different mother/father lol)
Erin, I am so sorry to hear about the reception plans, this is for Cuba right? Would you have a plan B?
Erin- Glad the catamaran worked out!!

We are planning on getting married in Nov 2010 but my TA is telling me that we can't book until the flights open up. So many of my family & friends who are planning to join us keep asking "do you have a date yet?" Arg!
Anyhow, I'd like to know if anyone has had the problem with people inviting themselves to your DW? I have a budget in mind and I'm afraid that if people keep adding themselves to the guest list (totally rude!) then I'm going to be way over budget. I've been told that because they figure it's more like a holiday, it's ok to just tag along. We were planning to have the free wedding at RIU Ocho Rios but if people keep adding themselve I'm going to have to pay for an actual package. Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, what is the best way to tell these people no?

When we were still trying to figure out our actual trip dates, we mostly just said that we were planning for April but since nothing was confirmed yet, we'd let people know down the road. It seemed to be an easy answer for everyone.
As for people inviting themselves and other people, it's all too common. There are actually a couple threads aimed specifically at this problem so you should be able to do a quick search and find them. I think that it's completely reasonable to tell people that you'll have a limited guests list due to resort restrictions (no one needs to know that it's your decision on how many people do or don't fit in your package!) and that while you'd love to have everyone there you're going to be limited to a smaller number of friends and family. Also, if you're having an At Home Reception (AHR) it's also easy to say that while only a small number of friends or family will be joining you at the resort, you'd be happy to have so-and-so come to your AHR party afterwards!
I'm not entirely sure but check and see if there is a November 2010 thread on the go already. It might really help you with all your planning since the brides there will be on a similar timeline to yours. I know all of us on the April 2010 site have found it super useful to have that support along the way and we wouldn't want you to miss out! Have a great time planning and you'll have lots of girls here willing to help you along the way
