April 2010 Brides

Erin- I totally get you about a regular wedding being stressful! I try to remember how crazy that would be to try to organize anytime I feel any stress about my DW. I'm so glad we're going this route, too.

Does anyone else feel like they're hitting a planning plateau? I was super busy with wedding things just a few weeks ago and now don't seem to have anything else I can work on. I'd like to get my mugs and favours ordered but I need to wait until I get a more accurate head count. Is there something I should be working on now- I'm paranoid that I'm forgetting something!

I'll def let you know when I do them, and how they went! I'm nervous for the FI I don't think he pictures well lol (not in a mean way)

I hope to be as lucky as you when I have a child! She sounds amazing, and growing up to be a wonderful woman!

I so feel that way, I hit a wall with wedding planning. I think all lot of it has to do with I don't know how many people are actually coming. It's frustrating. I was just thinking of this now, My SIL got married in Aug (and like you Erin, I am so happy we are going the DW route, avoid all sort of stress, like who is suppose to be in what photo!!) She had no problem getting her rsvp on her due date. Is it cause were doing DW so it's all lot more iffy for people? I just don't get it!! I'm frustrated with wedding planning. I want to give up! Sooo happy I'm not doing in town wedding

melidell, i think a lot of us are right there with you. there's that initial rush when you figure out your location, package prices, do invitations, figure out what you're putting in OOT bags, etc.. after that you end up just having to wait for things to happen! it's funny.. we all expect wedding planning to be stressful so when we have time to relax and enjoy it, we stress that we're not stressed enough!!

i'll post pictures of the cake i made as soon as my SIL gets the professional ones!

Tracy...ok I knew I wasn't trippin..but some in the snow would be beautiful esp while it's falling!!

As for the wedding planning I have hit a plateau as far as our AHR..I desperately need to find loose dice in bulk..but it has been more challenging...I also am thinking of cancelling the picture pkg I bought..our initial wedding pkg comes with ceremony photos...and since I plan on having a photog come and do shots of us getting ready and then afterwards on the strip..B might get tired of pics real soon...so I am gonna cancel that pkg and just keep the pkg for on the strip....

uuuggghhhh decisions...

Natasha..I think appetizers/drinks is more than sufficient...instead of doing a big dinner...and would be appreciated by your guests...

Erin glad your back and can't wait to see pics!!! ooohhh a massage sounds so wonderful right now!

Hey ladies!

I am a potential April 2010 bride. Have emailed the resort and photographer and it looks like the date I want is open for both! I just have a few concerns and I was hoping you girls could give me your advice/experiences. First off, I feel like this might be super short notice to give my guests. My side of the family knows of my intention to get married in Mexico and they are starting to get excited about it. My mom really is pushing for us to get married in April, she says guests can use their tax returns to pay for the wedding/vacation. Wishful thinking? My fiance has yet to mention getting married in Mexico to ANY of his family, and he has 2 older brothers with children who need to know asap. He is concerned they might think we are 'pushing them away' and making them feel like we don't want them to be a part of our wedding. But my justification is that we live in CA and they live in Boston...they are already going to have to travel across the country, so why not meet down south in Mexico? Do you think it's too short notice to have a wedding in April? We are probably going to invite 150 people, but I honestly think only 50-60 would actually come. Do you think if I postponed it until November that more people would come, or does it seem like if they want to make it they will do so with 6 months or 12 months notice? Also, I will send out a mass email to most of my guests letting them know about the date, but about how long does it take to order magnets with save the dates and get them to the guests? When should I send out the official invitation? Sorry for all these questions. I don't want my guests to feel like I'm excluding them!! I just think that overall, ALL of our family will have to travel and pay for hotel, and I really want to get married barefoot on the beach. Thanks for any advice you may have. I might have more questions later :P

hi leslie! looks like you have a lot of questions there, so i'll try to answer some of them the best i can!

i don't think 6 months is too little time, but this is completely dependent on your guests. if you know them well enough and are confident that they can have the money and are able to take the time off work and away from home, then go for it! you've already got two of the hardest parts taken care of.. the resort and the photographer.

depending on where you order STDs and magnets from, it may only take a week or so. you can use vistaprint, but you'll have to pay a little more for quicker shipping. you can always make your own as well... this would save you a lot of time and money and there are a lot of templates on the forum.

hiiiii ladies. i just am doing a quick drive-by and wanted to say hi! it's been FOREVER since i last posted anything and even longer since i took the time to read past posts...house has still been keeping me very occupied but i *finally* got wireless working in the place so before long (these days, before long means in a month!) i'm going to sit down with a glass - no, a bottle - of wine and catch up.

hope you are all getting everything you need DONE and outta the way. i've totally ignored all things wedding. sad.gif it's good though, i think i'm in a solid space. i really want to take my dress in soon to start getting some alterations done.

erin - hope your future daughter hasn't terrorized you with those poo stickers! wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
