we're going with the mostly casual look too I think. I told my FI that I'd still like to have him in a white shirt and black bottoms, even if they are black khakis (rolled up ankles of course!) or black shorts!! I still don't have my dress yet so I don't know how formal mine will be but I'm so totally open to whatever, so long as there aren't 20 layers!

As for the BM's I'm hoping to find a simple sun-dress style and for the GM it'll be tan khakis (shorts or pants) and short sleeve shirts. We're leaning towards purple as the main wedding colour so I was thinking of putting the girls in dark purple (that's what I want for my flowers!) and the guys in a lighter purple.

But the very best part about choosing all of this... my FI was actually ok when I basically told him 'this is what I want you to be wearing'... okay maybe it was more 'this is what you're going to wear'!!!! Hahaha!

FI has let me do everything by myself, but he wants to pick his own clothes. He is on the formal side, and cannot imagine getting married in anything less than a suit...I'm ok with that since he's let me do everything else, and I keep showing him everyone else's pics to kind of subliminally remind him to go with light colors. His dad also got a jacket and tie, which means now my dad wants to wear one, which I didn't want, but whatever...
But FI said to me the other day when I came home from trying on my dress..."I have to pick out my suit, and it's price tag will have a comma in it"!

I was like "Dude, my dress didn't even have a comma in it, you might want to rethink that!" He looked surprised, but I think he got the message.

Just a week or two ago Fi had to buy a suit just to attend another wedding, and I never want to be his helper again!! Haha! He is SOO picky about his formal clothes. But I think because we're both happy with everyone being more casual, he doesn't mind if I'm being more direct about what I want him to wear.

And he hasn't even asked or commented about the price tag for my dress (which I haven't bought yet). I think he knows that I'd be really torn if I found THE dress, but it turned out to be more $$ than what he wanted or thought was ideal. It's probably just as easy that he stays quiet about it :)

I just got back from an 8-day Carnival cruise leaving from NYC. We pretty much had 5-days at sea in between three days of ports. We stopped at San Juan, St. Thomas, and Grand Turk. FI and I loved Grand Turk but a lot of the island (and the other two) were ruined by Hurricane Ike... above the turmoil the islands were really nice. I hope you have an awesome time!

Saturday I went MOB dress shopping with my mom. She ended up buying two dresses, one for the wedding and one for the AHR. She and I both love her dresses!! Speaking of dresses mine should be coming in sometime next week!! I can't wait to see it!

For my groom I was thinking of having him wear a white button down with khaki pants... for the groomsmen I want them to wear a green button down with khaki pants...

Where are you all going for the groomsmens attire?

doblauvelt - you and I have the same wedding date!! I noticed your countdown first and thought it sounded familiar :)

Have you already found your own dress then? I'm still looking for the right one, and man is it frustrating!! Congrats on helping your mom find 2 dresses though!! My mom is never too good at shopping, especially for formal wear so I'm hoping that it'll be easier for her being a DW instead of a more traditional wedding.

di.. sorry it took me so long to respond, but this is where we got our towels from:

Beach Towels wholesale manufacturer of custom embroidered monogrammed bath towel for corporate events

if you get them from there, make sure you wash them at least one or two times before you give them to your guests! they make a lot of fuzz!

as for our bags, we actually bought them through a lady who has an embroidery shop at our meijer grocery store. i will check and see if the place she gets them from has a website. all of this stuff is my parents' house and i think i need to swing by there and take pictures of it all!

how did FI-attire-shopping go on sunday?

also, saw your invites and they are AMAZING!! where in the world did the ducks and goggles thing come from?

echo.. my FI was the same way! as long as there was no jacket and no tie he didn't care what he was wearing!

michele.. is it your FI who won't let you see him in his outfit before the wedding since he can't see you in your dress? it cracks me up that he's that formal that his suit cost could have a comma! yowza! i think my dress did only b/c of tax!

welcome virgotech!! sounds like this really will be a dream wedding for you! have you started planning much yet?

i am so jealous of you girls going on cruises! FI is afraid of open water so that crushed my dreams right there. i will just have to live vicariously through you all!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
