April 2010 Brides

Recommended Posts

jodi, oh my gosh. i am so sorry all of that stuff has happened to you recently. when it rains, it certainly pours... although that seems to be an understatement for your situation! i truly hope that your wedding can be the celebration that it seems your whole family needs right now.

i am so excited for everyone booking more people, that is really awesome!!

why is it that when people post their to-do lists i always realize more things that need to go on mine?! a lot of my stuff is last minute things (list of pictures for the photographer, getting more sunscreen and aloe, etc.) and stuff other people have to do (my flowers, my makeup bags for my BM gift, my BMs getting their shoes). i still love the feeling of taking something off though!

so today i got some not so lovely news about my resort... dreams posted their 2010 wedding information and it is more detailed than ever before. unfortunately it came with a few surprises like $15/person set-up fees for both the wedding AND reception. and my big deal breaker... no music or dancing at any of the private reception locations at restaurants. only inside locations are allowed music. we based our decision on information that was available almost a year ago and if they don't honor what was out there when we booked i'll be pretty upset. we'll definitely get married there and stay there, but as for the reception, i'm looking into alternate places right now. thankfully with this forum i was able to find out from other dreams pc brides that this is going on and we're all trying to get answers. all i can say is that i'm thankful i'm not getting married in january and just finding this out now!!

That's horrible, as I understand I based my decision on the packages and it's how I ended up picking the resort I did.
I have another option for you,
There is a restaurant called 'jellyfish' it's suppose to be perfect for weddings or reception. You can have music and dancing. I just don't know the details of the prices and stuff, it can def be something to look into. There are also other restuarant. I just know of this one because it's very popular.
Let us know how it works out in the end.
Good luck!!!! smile03.gif

Erin - I would imagine that the resort would need to honour what they had posted at the time of your booking and not something new that has come in to place. If not then resorts could change all sorts of policies for weddings at last minute and really screw people over if they didn't allow for notice! It's good that you've got your resort thread on here because I'm sure you'll find answers a lot better than if you were just on your own. Just try to have a bit of patience as I'm sure they're getting bombarded with questions about the new wedding brochure from all different places.

I know my package says they are allowed to change anything as they please with out notice. I am assuming a lot of resorts in DR are like that, the ones I looked at anyways all said they can change the packages. It's not right, i was actually very worried about this as I saved XX amount, so if they come up to me and tell me it'll be another $1000 I'd be definitely screwed!!!

Oh yes, list of pictures for the photographer! Forgot about that!

AHHHH...I didn't even think about them being able to change things. I saw the 2010 was out for my resort but figured I already signed something....now I have to check...weren't these Destination Weddings supposed to be stress freehuh.gif HAHAHAHA

michele, i'm starting to think "stress free" is impossible!!

tracy, i actually did exactly what you suggested and looked into both the jellyfish and the la barcaza wedding cruise. they have our date open for la barcaza and with the extra fees dreams is charging, it would be less expensive and even better i think! honestly, even if the resort will honor what was out there when i booked, i think i may go with the reception cruise! now i've got myself all confused!

oh yesss th list of pictures I want the photographer to take. I know I did the list, and put it somewhere I will look for it tonight. And let you guys see it may help or give me more ideas.

Erin,

Oh I am so happy you found one that has your date open. I am sorry your more confused tho lol I know how it is. I guess the best thing for you to do is write a list of pro's and con's for the resort and cruise, see what you come up with, also you can check threads on here to get comments and reviews, that might help a lot also check tripadvisor,it's un real what kind of reviews you can find on there.

Let us know which you pick, and if you need any help with any research,.

BTW I keep forgetting to mention it I am sorry!!! I am horrible

I thought the e-mail to the guest was amazing!!! and I wish I would of had that when I sent my e-mail out. :)I agree the TA's name was missing but to be honest I didn't even notice until Meghan mention it. Because after all the Ta would answer the phone with their name, as long as you gave them the # which you did.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
