April 2010 Brides

Tracy- Family members are always a tricky situation. If I were in your shoes I'd talk to FI sister..or make him talk to her.. and let her in on your situation. It is def. not fair for all your other BMs to have paid for their dresses and their own way and have her slip through the cracks. $60 does go a long way, esp. in this recession.

Michele- I'm so happy your MIL booked! Any other key players that need to book but haven't yet?

I'm having my BD shoot tomorrow after work :) I can't wait. I bought all these things (well..not that much) and two cute new pair of shoes I can't wait to sport lol. I'm kind of nervous though, but that's normal right? Any suggestions to relax ladies?

Thanks for the support, I think one of us will have a 'little' talk with her.

Then there is the FI parents... the week we are getting married there are 7 brides who will be at our resort the same week, each couple having a min guest of 25 people. WHy would the FI parents book now to assure they have a room for their son's wedding, instead they are waiting to see if a 'friend' of theirs in their town will book.. so they are waiting!!!!!!! boggles my mind, truly does!!!!! I am getting fed up with them, especially after seeing how involved they were with his sister's wedding back in Aug.

Sorry for venting lol

Ohhh how exciting!!! your BD session.. I am not sure if I am really ugly or what, but no photographer want to do a session for me.. I thought I had found one, but every time I ask her for a date, she ignores me!! sad.gif

I say have a few shots!! usually does the trick, and a lot of brides who have already done their session suggest this as well.. will definitely loosen you up lol

good luck, you wont feel nervous after a few around of pics! I am sure of that, you'll do great. Have fun,and let us know how it goes!

yay tonya!!! definitely have a glass of wine or a few shots of something to ease your nerves! it takes about 5 minutes or so to start to feel comfortable and then you won't want to stop! my online gallery for my BD pics expires in a few days and it makes me so sad. i have the book to look at, but it reminds me how long ago those pictures were taken!

make sure you let us know how it goes!

Sorry but I'm totally interrupting to whine and complain for a moment. Tonight is my third in a row of working stupid long days which has followed my Christmas holidays during which I was almost always working and/or on call. Yesterday I worked about 14 hours and today is going to be a solid 12 hour day - and that's actual office time, nothing to do with my commute in or out sad.gif I'm exhausted and really wish that I could just go home. The only thing keeping me going tonight is that I'm meeting my sister for drinks at 7pm and get to go show her my dress if it's still at the store. Not sure because of all the 2010 ones that would have come in and mine of course is a 2009. I can't wait for this week to be done!

I am so sorry to hear you've been having a rough week Meghan, I've done those work hours (probably the reason I've been off of work so long) All I can say is be careful of a burn out. What's with the work load?!
At least you can to break up the horrible week with a visit with your sis, let us know if the dress was still there and you were able to show her!! does she also live in Calgary?

Ah it's just usually our busy time of the year over winter and I've got a deadline for some stuff due to one of the government bodies in our industry. The kind where there is zero tolerance for things being late and the particular document package that I've been putting together is complicated so it has to be "just so" before I can submit it. Honestly it's a huge pain in my ass!!

So we went to the bridal store last night but not surprisingly they had sold the floor sample of my dress but the good part at least is that mine is due to come in about a month from now so it's not like I've got a long time to wait! So she'll just end up coming with me when I have my fitting most likely. She's just so excited for me that she doesn't want to wait :) I have the best sister in the world (although I didn't always think so when we were kids haha!). She does live here in Calgary with me and is my only family here. It kind of sucks that her place is about a half hour drive from me but it's an easy one so I don't usually mind too much - just when I'm tired from being in her hot tub too long and still have to drive home!

Meghan- Sorry to hear about the crazy work load. Things always pick up after the holidays. I have been feeling the wrath and work too lol. I'm so happy your dress is coming soon, be sure to take pics!

I bought a small bottle of rumplemintz to take shots of for my bd shoot lol. I figured liquor will do the trick... let's hope I don't take too many shots and go overboard hah. I will keep you guys posted!!

Tracy - do not feel like you're being pushy - I sent like 3 reminder emails to get people to book - I'm only waiting on 3 people now. I said in the last email:

Hi there!

Sorry to be so pushy, but if you're coming to the wedding, please book the room ASAP - I'm only going to be holding them another week and then the rate won't be guaranteed anymore.

Here's the travel agent info:

Hope to see you soon!

Michele and Jim

It's THEIR FAULT for not responding on time.

Tonya - good luck on your BD shoot! the drinks will help and everyone says once you get started you feel more comfortable. I will end up doing one right before or after the wedding since I've been so late starting the real workout stuff.

Meghan - sorry you're working so much - my job is kicking my butt these days - a lot of pressure and the commute is awful. I had an interview yesterday for my dream job - i'm almost afraid to wish for it. I should hear next week.

i'm right there with the crappy work hours. i'm an accountant so the next 3 months for me are MINIMUM 55 hour weeks. not to mention that the next 3 weeks i'll be out of town during the week in the middle of nowhere west viriginia! glad there will be other people here who can understand!

michele, i say "go get 'em!". if it means finding out your final guest count, go ahead and bug them like crazy!!

i finally got the travel for both my photographer and videographer booked! one more thing off the list, thank goodness!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
