April 2010 Brides

meghan.. that's exactly our situation.. except we both love our house. it just doesn't quite work for an expanded family. we have two bedrooms, but we need one for J's daughter so any additions need more space! plus, we live on the same street with his parents, two sets of aunts and uncles and his grandparents, so i'm ready to move to somewhere new!

tracy, keep it up with the wii fit! i've heard that people have had real success with it! plus, you don't get bored doing all the fun games and exercises!

tracy I like your image the way it is... except I'm going to be the one that points out the spelling mistake!! It says PUTA CANA... it's missing the 'N' in Punta Cana (and writing that out so many times makes me think I don't know how to spell hahaha!). So before you start printing you'll need to get that part fixed. But otherwise I really like how it fades between the colour and black & white. I honestly wouldn't change it to the other expression.

Oh AND I have to say - Wii Super Hoola is SO FUN!! I will certainly admit that I love playing that game! Man, I want to skip out on work and go home to play wii now! It gets left to the wayside far too often.

P.S. Tonya - did you have a jump in numbers for how many people you have booked?!?! Maybe it's just my fried brain but I don't know if I remember seeing 26 there before!

Tracy - love the image but good thing you have us to proof - I wish I would have had you guys look at my response cards that were missing a letter! My mom is the only one who said something!

Tonya I noticed the 26 today too! Is that up?

Do you guys know I have sent 2 emails to people and gotten barely any response!
My one friend booked today so I will fix my ticker after this post.

He's seeing his parents tonight - NO - My future in laws have not booked their room yet - WTF!!!!

FI's cousin who responded yes - FI called today and now he and wife are fighting and haven't booked yet - FI told him I am cancelling hold on rooms next week and if he hasn't booked he loses the price.

My other friend promised me this week....It's like pulling teeth to get people to go to an effing ISLAND!

LOL!! thankfully yes fo you girls and proof reading. Aww.. were you able to get the cards fixed?

I sent an e-mail and got no reply back, the only person who booked is a really close friend, and he lives in Ireland, and he was't able to get a 'package' he had to book everything ' a la cart' so it came out to be a lot more expensive.

I think most people will book in March and if there is no more rooms, to bad for them. I am worried about my MOH a little since she will book in March, and if there isn't any rooms left ,then both the FI and I will have no witness. At least my parents booked, but not the FI's parents!! WTH!! you'd think they would care if they got a room or not.

What make me mad is FI friend, his gf was divorced a few years back, and then she met FI's friend they use to date in collage. But she is jealous of FI and and my relationship, and that we are getting married, because she doesn't have that anymore. SHe bugged him fo a year (they had been dating for 2 months before she bugged him) to move it together (even tho that meant puttng his kid,and her 2 kids as a big family) recently they moved into together but he made it a point that, thats how far he is willing to go in the relationship, gave her a promise ring and said maybe one day, but not any time soon.. every since then she has wanted nothing to do with out wedding. So after they come back from Punta Cana, I get their rsvp they aren't coming, but the friend acts like his really missing out on something..so I've gotto assum its the GF. But I've given up on caring.. just the FI has no friends coming at all sad.gif

At least he'll have some family members.
I just can't wait until march.. this way everyone who wants to come will be booked by then and we all can know who is coming or not for sure!

I am getting nervous reading this blog everyday. I am obviously so far behind. My wedding is in a little over 100 days and we just found out we have to move to a new venue.

Accomplished:

Ordered and mailed invitations

Ordered wedding dress

purchased piece for my hair (no veil)

created wedding website

created wedding registry

selected wedding party

selected main location

purchased airline tickets

paid deposit for wedding coordinator

paid deposit for photographer

colors selected (orange and green)

engagement photos

TTD:

wedding shoes

bridesmaid dress and shoes

grooms attire

groomsmen attire

Update wedding website with new lodging info

menu selection

dj/band selection

music list

flower selection

decor selection

ceremony

programs

menu cards

seating chart

email to all guests letting them know time is running out and RSVP cards should be mailed considering I've already paid for the stamps

2nd hotel for honeymoon

mother of the bride/groom dresses/shoes

bachelorette party date/location

wedding shower date/location

sign in book

welcome dinner decision and selection

OOT bags - might not be any!

wedding party gifts

drop pounds to fit into dress

wedding hairstyle

wedding make

make up artist

As you can see I have a LOT to do. I think I'm going to print a large checklist and put it on the wall in my house as a daily reminder that I need to be doing something. I am really disappointed that I have only received two RSVP cards back in the mail. One was a yes and the other was a no. Yet, I keep hearing that people have booked their tickets. Well when do you plan to send your card in because I need an accurate head count. That is the thing that bothers me the most. I have 11 confirmed airline tickets so far. BTW none are from the grooms family. WTF. Some of my guests have been complaining about airline tickets. Well considering I gave notice in May and sent out formal invitations in September, you had enough time to reserve tickets and make payments.

Michele - I'm sure it must suck that people keep saying that they are coming but then don't book but I think it some point you have to remember that it's beyond your control too sad.gif If they don't want to take advantage of the group rates that you've got for them, then they can deal with the higher prices. Since we didn't use a travel agent at all, our guests have just had to rely on airline sales... and now that the new year has come all the sales have ended so the prices are up by a couple hundred dollars. I think it's going to have a big effect on who ends up booking now which sucks because it's mostly FI's friends who haven't replied in any way either. I'm sending out reminder postcards tomorrow (only ten thankfully) but I'm pretty sure that most will result in a form "sorry but we're not coming".

haha I'm usually a bit of a stickler for grammar and spelling so I tend to notice little things like that (when I actually look at what I'm writing!). Glad to be of some help though!

And I totally accept your challenge! As soon as I'm done writing here, I'm going to go hoola hoop for 12 minutes! 14 even! LOL! It's been a while since I had my wii out... and was sober using it!!!!! For a while I was going to the gym a couple nights a week but my gym was undergoing some renos which really turned me off going anymore. It's petty but true. So I workout at home or get out snowboarding when I can. I don't usually have the energy for much to be honest but its something I'm working on.

I worry about my sister as well who is also my MOH. She won't be able to book until more last minute as well as we're trying to wait on her husbands work schedule. I know there are a few BDW brides at my resort around the same time so I worry sometimes that it's going to be fully booked. Someone had suggested a while back to try and reserve a room directly with the resort and I just might have to do that and hope that she can still get a decent rate paying for the room and the flights separately.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
