April 2010 Brides

Tonya - we're also waiting on a GM to book his trip still... and my sister who is my MOH! I think the only reason we're not panicking (yet) is because we know that they'll both be there come hell or high water but are waiting to find out whether their spouses can attend which unfortunately is going to be more last minute. It almost makes me want to look into reserving an extra room for them both just in case and then the flights could be done separately, but I'm not sure how much more expensive that might end up being, to do the booking separately. Grrrr. Just one of those things we'll have to wait on i guess!

Meghan- We're on the same boat then lol. That's good that at least you know they'll be there in the end. Could you hold a room for them anyway, there should be a date when you can cancel a room right? Try that.

Another thing I forgot to mention (bc you brought up your sister being MOH) is my MOH and one of my BM booked their rooms but still aren't sure they'll make it out in time for the wedding. They're both nursing majors and apparently the schedules are strict and they have to have permission to skip clinicals, something like that. At least my MOH brought it up to her professors and my cousin, who's one of my BM just found out her finals are the same week as my wedding week! Grr. But seriously, you would think that of all people attending, the bridal party would have the courtesy to take care of their ends.

Erin- Thanks and no, we didn't end up going to NYC. We just went to a local park. The pictures came out the same as the last lol, with the scenery and all. I believe on Saturday we will definitely go. I still can't wait for this shoot! I'll post them as soon as I get them done.

We had this problem with a good friend who's just gone back to school- she won't be able to attend because she's got clinicals at the same time as our wedding and can't get away for a week. It sucks, we would love to have her there and she's disappointed too. My MOH started a new job this month and was a bit worried about asking for a specific vacation time right away but luckily they were fine with it- I was a bit worried about that too. It's hard waiting for people to book- FI's brother waited until the last minute and we weren't sure what was going on- he finally booked though, thank goodness.

My big worry now is if anyone else is coming or not. I have a ton of family on my Dad's side who've been invited and some of them sound interested but they haven't let on one way or another if they're going. So my guest list could stay as is or it could go up by 10 or even 15 more easily. It sucks, because I want to get started on favours but don't have my final head count yet. I guess I'll know by the end of January- that's our RSVP date. I'm so impatient, though!

Thanks for the reminder Tonya that the hotel might be able to hold the rooms until a certain date. The only part that concerns me is that we didn't use a travel agent at all so far, so it just might be a little more tricky since we don't have an existing group booking. I guess if I was able to prove all the other reservations that we have already it would help my case. I'll look into it some more.

And Mel I agree with you that I'm completely impatient! I've already bought half the stuff for my OOT bags and based it on the max # of people we invited (which was about 50ppl total). So far we have 26 confirmed or booked, only a few no's and the rest are unheard from as I mentioned. I'm actually considering sending out a few late invites now just because we had to limit our guest list from the beginning but I don't know what can of worms I'd be opening up doing that.

Hi ladies!

Looks like I might soon be joining the April 2010 upcoming brides group :)

We will potentially put our deposit down tomorrow to reserve our date! I know it's short notice for a lot of my family but it sounds like a lot of guests don't book their reservations until around this timeframe anyways, so I think it should work out. We are very excited and can't wait to get married! It all depends on whether my dress will be here in time, I find out today when it's supposed to get here. Can't wait to find out. Do you think I should sent out a real save the date and then invitation since I'm having it so soon? Or do you think an 'email' save the date/details to book trip, and then real invitations in January would be sufficient? Hope you're all having a wonderful day!

Leslie

maybe waiting to know exactly who is coming is part of the reason why DWs don't feel real until you're there!!

meghan, i've done the same thing buying stuff for OOT bags. i pretty much know how many people are coming, but i bought stuff before then.. it's bad because every time i buy too much i just say "ehh.. i can sell the rest on BDW."

oceanwonderland, if there's any way to plan a wedding in 5-6 months, it's having a DW. you may be a little rushed depending on how much detail you want, but i think you'll be fine. getting your dress will probably be the biggest time crunch. in terms of STDs and invites, i would say do the email STD with information and then a real invitation later. it may not be enough time for your guests if you don't already have STDs to send out.

i still giggle every time i type STD. mature huh?

Leslie, I think an email STD is the way to go in such short notice. There's no need to waste money or time on having STDs printed and sent out via regular mail.

Just wanted to pop in and say I miss you guys, but I've been really enjoying my vacation - a little too much. I know my dress isn't going to zip up after this trip! lol

I shouldn't be laughing, I'm actually really worried!

I haven't caught up on anything in this thread yet but just wanted to let you all know I think about it often! lol

I'll be back home on December 4th - just in time to put up my Christmas decorations and sit down for some good ole' BDW gossip.

Meghan - still working on our little US purchase...I'm sure I'll find them somewhere!

Hope everything is going well for everyone!!

Suzy out... ;o)

okay so I know that I've booked a bunch of stuff, and people are booking their trips etc. but I agree that sometimes I don't believe that I'm getting married. I TOTALLY had a "holt sh!t I'm getting married in five months... me, married!" moment a couple days ago and nearly split from laughing so hard!!

And I've already been selling stuff here... some success, some surprising failure. I had posted my rotary trimmer since i know I won't really use it any more and its almost new (except for my invites of course) and didn't have any interest in it! Shocking considering the number of brides here who are all DIY'ers.

Giggle away! We all do I'm sure :)

SUZY! I've missed you darling! How much longer are you in the US for? If you can't find our stuff in stores then I can just order it to your brothers place and hopefully you will get it before leaving for the coast? Let me know if you get this in time. I think delivery is only a day or two....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
