meghan, i know i'm coming into this a little bit late, but have you shown your FI moments that matters work? that's what tipped the scales in my favor as far as photography goes. these will be your memories of your day and you don't want to have to settle!! let us know what you decide!

i'm right there with you on the christmas shopping too! i hate being stressed at the last minute and not being able to enjoy the season!
I wish it was only as easy as showing FI the MTM photog. work! He's got a bit of a preconceived notion of a DW based on his brothers from a few years back. THEY only had pictures taken by friends and family and those turned out just fine, so why would we be different. Plus, he thinks that no one even bothers hanging any pictures after a few years so why does it matter having them stuffed into an album someplace. And, why pay all that money when you really only need four or five pictures. YES, I'm seriously repeating his words. Us & parents, us & wedding party, us... oh, so I'm only at three... you get the idea? So I'm hoping that just having our photographers for a couple hours and not including the ceremony (or guests honestly) then he'll be more agreeable. Plus I told him he doesn't have to smile for all of them either :)

OH, I should've mentioned this earlier. Last Saturday I had my "surprise" bachelorette party. I'm still waiting on pix but I had a wild night that included male strippers and bar hopping lol. I'm not all for the male strippers but the experience was fun, although I was pulled up on stage for a lap dance. Oh god, can't wait to show you guys pix whenever my friends post them.
FI doesn't seem to think we're doing gifts but I still will, even if they are more limited than other years. I'm a HUGE stocking person so he knows that I better have one stuffed and overflowing on Christmas morning as a minimum! LOL! Plus, if I get it started early then I can check people off and not even think about it as the holidays get closer.

And I got a laugh about your bachelorette party! I wasn't planning on anything traditional (i want to go winter paintballing!) but I still know that my sister and my BM's are TOTALLY in cahoots planning something for me. I'm a little scared! I'm glad you had a great time though, even if it was just for the experience!

tonya... male stripers and lap dances?! that's hilarious!

meghan.. just make sure your guests are snapping away tons of pictures so you can still see everything afterwards. i've found that boys just don't get it sometimes!

shan.. the thing that stinks about BD pictures is that not a lot of photogs put them on their blogs. i can tell you though that my FSIL did hers for her husband when i did mine and she wore a hard hat, construction boots, etc. and had one of those "slow/stop" signs and it looked amazing! some times the things that aren't blatantly sexy can be the best!! if you do anything with a big rig we HAVE to see!

doblauvelt,

lol that sounds like so much fun!! you have to have a stip dance before your marriage for life!! I can't wait to have mine. Not sure what is in stores for me, but I'm excited to get all the girls together and have a night out, as it never happens to get all my gf together to party.

I'm so excited to see some of your pics!! You were able to take pics in the strip club? Our male strip club here in Montreal, you are not allowed to take a cam, and you have to turn your phone off. I wont be getting pics of me there if we end up there.

echo2_62,

Ha Ha you sound like me, even if the fi doesn't want to do it (anything) and I do, it still gets down. I'm not huge a xmas, just the xmas dinner. But the FI is really into the stocking stuffers, so I know I'll have a sock filled of stuff to go through xmas morning.

But like doblauvelt We have money issues, well not money issues more like just not having any because I've been off work for 2 and half years for medical leave. Xmas is over rated anyways (Just have to keep saying that to myself lol)

I finally decided what I will be wearing for my BD shoots. Montreal hockey jersy, Mike's fav. His Fav button down work shirt. and a sexy lingerie. One or 2 outfits will be with a pair of high heels.

ebredhawk

I think your right, allot of things one may not consider sexy, another just might. I decided to forget looking for BD poses and just see what happens when I get there, in hopes the photographer will coach me!

Lol- those are pics that I want to see, too! It sounds like you had a blast. I can't believe you got pulled up on stage- that is funny! I'm glad you had a good time.

I need to start Christmas shopping, too, because I'll have to mail just about everything out. FI and I agreed to take it easy this year with the wedding coming up. We tend to go a bit crazy at Christmas so this is overdue anyway. Still, I can't wait- it'll be the first Christmas in our new home so I don't feel like I'll need much more than that!

Ok, this will be quick....I promise - for those of you anywhere else in the world here is MY brief experience with our medical system in Alberta:

1. Go to the doctor for an ulcer

2. Get Bombarded by my Strong Eastern European Doctor about my thyroid and requisitioned to immediately do a full blood analysis/urinalysis/pelvic ultrasound?? (not sure where that came from?)

3. trying to contain my 16 month old who is terrorizing the office and politely rearranging all medical supplies for the scary Dr...

4. 5 minute appointment and complete lapse of memory as to why I was even there...I bloody forgot to mention the damn ulcer and I'm going away for a month next Friday...looks like I'll have to hit a walk-in clinic, and don't even get me started about H1N1 - 3000 people in one line today, ugh Then I get a call from NS (where my Family is) and they think my Sis has the virus, waiting on test results :o(

What a hell of a day! I'm heading to bed!

Hope you all have a fabulous Halloween! :o)

I tried to make it quick, sorry...just ask Meghan, this is pretty good for me! lol ;o)

We had our first Christmas in our new house just last year too! It was the only excuse we had for FI to NOT make it home for the holidays and seriously ALL his family commented on it at some time. Guess what, people miss a christmas now and then when they aren't 15 yrs old anymore! I personally haven't been home for Christmas in like five years sad.gif We've been trying to establish our own tradition of going skiing/snowboarding for a week at christmas/new years but it sounds like this year we won't make it. FI's niece is having her first christmas (although he doesn't entirely care - his family expects us there) and then friends are getting married at new years eve. Oh the decisions. Either way, I need a real tree and my stocking hung and stuffed full! You'll have a great christmas in your new house, I'm sure of it!

Hey Suzy! Okay i'm kind of giggling that you forgot to tell your doctor why you were there but it doesn't surprise me because of how much your brain jumps around LOL! Okay mine too! And the req. for a full blood test and ultrasound is normal and good too. I had all of that stuff done when I was getting tested as well. It's not entirely crazy afterall :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
