Okay I need some help here... but a little back story first.

Fi's opinion - who needs a photographer? They too f!@#ing expensive anyways!

My opinion - ceremony: meh, guests, cake, reception: meh, pictures of us two & TTD type pics - DEFINITELY REQ'D

So I have my photographers booked for two hours which we are planning to use between the ceremony and reception cheesy.gif

Dilemna - what to do about booking a room for my photographers (or not!) and how early should I book the room.

I have a couple options. A) First and most simply, I book the room for a night. There is a good sale on right now ($300/nt) compared to what prices usually (lately, $500/nt) are BUT I checked out the last minute rates that are available for, say, November and those are about $200/nt. So do I book while there is a sale or chance it and try to get something good last minute?

Option B) I can get my photographers a day pass for the resort if I also use the resort photographer and purchase one of his packages. This is basically a more expensive route to go (would probably cost about $600) but then at least i would get some additional pictures out of the deal in return.

Also - do photographers who live in mexico actually usually stay the night at the resort, considering their own beds are just a short drive away? I mean sure its a resort and you get all the food and amenities, but I really am not sure!!!

AGGGHHHH! HELP ME!!!

Meghan...I must be slow..if he lives in Mexico..why do you have to get him a room at all? I am using a photog from Vegas and he has mentioned nothing of the sort..but if you have to..I would do option A and would you be able to change and keep the room if the price drops after you book it?

Stacey..if you don't feel it then...don't buy it...if you can push your trip up then do that...what are you looking for as far as a dress...ie style, beading, length..maybe starting there would help...the first dress I tried on I thought was the one..after nother trip to another store..I did find the one..but I had an idea of what I was looking for..I wouldn't concentrate on finding "the one" or having that feeling..what I will say is try to get an idea of what you want and start there..not lots of time left and we def don't want you stressing cause there is more to get done..hopefully you will find your dress..GL!!!

I feel your frustration on the FI's opinion of photography! Mine says, "If there is going to be pictures, there will be no wedding" and my response is "if there aren't any pictures then there will be no wedding!" haha

Does your photographer live in Mexico and close to your wedding location? Is the photographer requesting a room? I may be missing something but why would you need to use the resort photographer if you get a day pass for the ones you hired?

Meghan,

It def doesn't make since why you would have to book a room for your mexico photographer, have you check him up on here? see if he requested the same thing with other clients. On top of having to pay for your package which is only 2 hours you have to book a room which is a 24 hour thing?!?! doesn't make since.

Is there a way to get your deposit back, and just get the on resort photographer? I think in the end you'll be saving money, no?! or am I misunderstanding.

If there is no way of doing this, I guess your best option is to book now with the special.

let us know what you end up choosing.

Oh man... I totally deleted part of my message by mistake! No wonder you're all confused too :)

It is the policy of my resort that if you are NOT using the resort photographer then you have to book your own photographer into the hotel for one night, regardless of where it is that they are coming from. It seems to be fairly typical from what I've heard that a number of the resorts either don't allow outside photographers at all or they have conditions on them like my resort does. So it isn't my actual photographer that is requesting the room, it is a condition of my resort. And I REALLY, REALLY love the work my photographer does (it's Moments that Matter Photography b.t.w.)

As for using the actual resort photographer, the wedding package that I chose does not include his services so I have the option of buying a package - which would then allow me to just get a day pass for my photogs.

The cost between the two scenarios wasn't much different before the sale on rooms came up, but I'm just trying to make the smartest decision which is conflicting slightly with the cheapest decision etc... I'm just so confused.

thanks for everyone's opinions so far and hopefully I've made a little more sense with this now!

Awe, Moments that Matter were booked for my day :o(.............

envy!!

I still have no idea what we're doing, I had been talking to a few girls about some "possibilities" ...and then *POOF* I've heard no more.....

I'm in contact with a photog here, but it'll probably prove to be too expensive with travel expenses bla bla bla...

I did send an availability request to Cancun Wedding Photography...any one know or use them...He's on this forum as a vendor....

Meghn,

that makes more since!! lol

I guess your best bet would be to book it now at the special price, as suppose to waiting, and not knowing what the price will be like closer to your date. I know it's hard, because it could go down, could go up. ugh!!! I hate being stuck like this I feel your pain. good luck!!

Ahhhh...yes that makes much more sense now! I agree with CaribbeanLover - if it were me I'd book in the room for the photographers at the cheaper rate it is at now - better safe than sorry. Would hate for there not be any last minute deals or rooms available at the last minute. Plus, while it sounds like having additional photographers there to get more photos would be nice, I'd be concerned that there could be discomfort or even confusion among them.

Its actually one of the few Mori Lee's that I've tried on! Most of the ones I've been drawn to are Maggies and I thought for sure I'd end up with a Maggie but this dress just seems to fit for all the right reasons!

I am too caught up in the thinking i need to feel as though its "the one" and I'm stressing out about not having that feeling and the time crunch! After trying on about 30 dresses (or so it seems like that many!) I do have a pretty good idea of what I don't want so am able to weed things out much more quickly now! There are a few different styles I like and this dress sort of incorporates a little from each of those (ie, strapless, lace, beading, short train, etc).

It has been however, 24hours since I've found the dress and I'm still thinking seriously about it so that's a good sign! :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
