I saw on here before something about a wedding packet that gets mailed to you from ROR and I haven't gotten one yet. Did anyone else get one? And also, if I am planning on using the photographer from ROR do I have to call to book him? Is it somewhere in that packet? I have no idea what I am doing! Please help!!
Congrats and Welcome to the April 2010 Group!!
As far as finding specific info about your resort there is probably a Riu Ochos Rios/ROR Thread - I think that's the resort you're talking about! I am assuming that you have to book the photographer, so I would do it asap if you can. Is there any way you can email the WC for photog info or to try to reserve photo services?
Good luck and I hope you get your package soon! :o)

so just realized i had pages and pages of this thread to catch up on. Congrats and welcome to all the new april brides! and to all of you worried about guests not booking yet, there is still plenty of time! i just got off the phone with my TA and she said she could still book people 2 weeks in advance. airfare might be more expensive, but there will still be hotel rooms. the advantages of getting married in April!

Things i've realized I'm behind...1) bridesmaids dresses - anyone know how long it takes to get them in? 2)i ordered my wedding dress back in may. i was told it be in in september and i still haven't heard anything. should i be worried? have most of you seen your actual dresses?

this is my 150th post! can't wait to go check out all the attachments :)

Hey Sarah! Your not behind!! because if you are then that means I am too!! lol
I don't have BM's dresses yet, found some online, but they are my fallback - so if I don't find anything else I know I can order those! I'd call about your wedding dress...not that you don't have lot's of time, but at least if there was a problem you can deal with it right away and not leave it too close to your date. I bought mine off the rack so it's hanging in the closet just waiting patiently to see the sun!!
I'm not doing centerpieces at all!! lol I'm going to do a few table favors and OOT bags and that's it, possibly hand fans for the ceremony but I'm still undecided. There will be enough luggage to haul with the addition of all the OOT bag stuff so I can't even imagine doing centerpieces or any other decor...I'm still debating real touch flowers - so that's even more luggage!!
Oh I don't even want to think about it~ I am behind!! lol

Congrats on the 150 mark!! I was so excited when I reached that point!

Hi and Welcome - you're the 3rd April 10 bride! Yay!

I just sent my invitations a few weeks ago and I'm very hesitant to start my OOT bags as well.

Definitely check out the Jamaica board for the ROR info - there's plenty of brides from there that can share advice.

Hey and welcome to the group!! I don't have any firm numbers for my OOT bags yet either, but for stuff that is small and cheap I don't mind getting that stuff out of the way ahead of time. We have 20 people booked right now, another ten or so rumoured to come and max 50 people. So the way I figured it out was this.... if we get EVERYONE on our guests list coming then I'm probably doing one bag per couple and one for all the singles. So anything that can cover two people ie. first aid kits I will only purchase 30 while other items like mini hand sanitizers which are more individual I will get 50 (or if they are pre-packaged whatever number comes closest). So it cuts down on a few things at least. Then, if we only get around thirty people in the end, I can give everyone their own bags and either double up on some items that I had extras of, or keep it for myself and pass it on to another bride. I just know I would rather start my collection early because I get panicky too easily!!

I didn't really have much inclination towards a DIY centrepiece really. I was going to just do table favours or something as Suzy mentioned. But when I saw that last picture, I was totally sold because they really are SO SO SO simple! 1) Get bowl. 2) Get water lights (mine are in the mail!). 3) Get water jelly/florist jelly or beads/crystals etc - the water jelly is just what it sounds like. They're these little bead type things that you just add water to and they expand and you can put your flowers in them and everything - it just makes it more solid than a bowl of water! You can get this stuff at Michaels. 4) Choose flowers for on top, real or not. 5) Give items to WC at resort with instructions to add water and VOILA! DONE!

As for bridesmaids dresses, I think I heard they take about two months?!?! Now don't quote me on that because its not 100% but that's my best guesstimate. And that would not be including alteration time either. Just call any of the bridal shops and they should be able to give you an idea. My girls ordered their dresses of VS so we just have to wait for shipping!

And I would totally be calling to find out where my dress was! Nevermind if they forgot to call you or something but yah, what if there was a delay for some reason?! Mine doesn't come in until February so I have to patiently sit and wait. Then again, I only ordered mine at the beginning of September or so.

You have plenty of time to catch up, no worries!! I just walked into a few stores, and the girls pick the dress they liked the most. there was no ordering, they are all siting in my closet now (I have 1 girl who loves wearing dresses, and she would have found a way to wear the bm dress out to party,or dinner)
I would def call about your dress, since we are nearing Nov. I am not so worried about guest not getting a room, more worried about not get the oot bags done in time if the guest only rsvp last min!!! but I gave 'til Jan 15 and for those who don't reply. and still end up showing, NO OOT BAG FOR YOU lol
Have fun planning!! :) Congrats on 150 post. All the fun starts now with attachments!!

I haven't ordered my bridesmaid dresses either. When I went to David's Bridal they told me that the dresses could take as long as 3 months to come in depending on the dress but other than that they should be 2-6 weeks. I think in Dec. my girls will order their dresses.

As for your dress I would call. I ordered mine back in March/April and got it the second week of September. I would definitly make sure that they haven't forgotten your order and are on top of things.

Hi and welcome! I am with you on the OOT bags and centerpieces. I still have no idea what my total count will be for OOT bags and I'm still debating on the centerpiece bit. Like some girls mentioned, it would be a pain to bring down extra luggage just for decor.

It will be a pain in the butt to lug all the extra wedding stuff, but it's why we have guest!! and BM and GM! I will be making a small bag or 2 for someone to add to their luggage, with a list of what is in it so if they have problems a, they will know what is in it.
I figured making centerpieces would be cheaper then $65 per centerpiece. Maybe your resort is offering something a little cheaper. If so, i say don't bothing with the DIY stuff if you don't have to.. I get a headache just thinking about what I have left to do still

I'm not even purchasing centerpieces there! I'm hoping the scenery speaks for itself!! I think the tables will be filled enough with what favors I bring, cutlery, stemware, place settings etc... so I'm hoping they don't look empty, and if there is a "Head table" I'm just going to use all of our bouquets - this is my plan, I hope it works!! I have enough to stress about!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
