i think you may be pushing it for April, if you have nothing. But if you can find a resort that still has the judge free, I totaly think you can pull it off, but for a dress you'd probably have to get off the rack, unless you go order a dress tomorrow, you may get lucky. It may be a little stressful, but if it's what you really want, I say go for it!!!
Where are you looking for? Mexico, DR...? You may have more chance if you go to a place that has allot of judge, priest. Punta Cana from what I am told does not. It gets booked a year in advance.

It helps a lot!

I am thankful for this thread too. It is so nice to know others are going through the same things and that I am not crazy (like having so many wedding thoughts going through my head that I can't sleep at night). I have mostly single friends and they don't really understand and are tired of hearing my wedding planning complaints.

I don't think it is too late, but I think you need to get a lot of the details ironed out within the next month, like finding your dress and bridesmaids dresses. Some bridal shops can put a rush on the dress, but not all of them can. You definitely need to get the wedding venue booked ASAP before everything is booked up. Hope you get to have the April wedding that you want.

My friends are all single too, or not in the spot to even think of marriage. SO I feel lonely when it comes to being excited and all that. I am so glad you guys are here. I am in the same boat. Most night I either toss and turn allot or have horrible nightmares of wedding things, forgetting to pack something very important (rings!!). Ugh!! excited to get married and not worry anymore.

Still trying to enjoy planning tho!

Shan13- congrats on hitting 150!

SuzqQ- I like your new pic, cute family :)

DallasBride- First thing you need to do is see if the resorts you are interested in have the availability you want. Riu shows their wedding availability on their Riu Wedding website. If you get that locked in then I'd say you've got plenty of time to do the rest.

I like the pic too!

I also agree that finding out if a spot you want has any availability is key at this point, DallasBride. If you can book somewhere that you like, then you may still have time depending on how flexible you can be about some things- like buying a dress off the rack, or doing email save the dates instead of mailing them out. I've done most of my prep (except for my dress) in the last two months but seriously, this wedding has been taking over my life and while I'm so glad we're getting married in April like we wanted I really wish I'd started sooner. You may need to be prepared to commit a lot of your extra time to wedding related things-but if you're up for it go for it!

Ummm...I don't have a dress yet - should I be worried?? We're getting married April 27, 2010 and I'm not even close to having a dress! My friends and I have a wedding dress shopping date planned for November and I have looked at some local shops but haven't found anything here.

We have the resort booked and people are slowly booking (why do so many people wait until the last minute!), once everyone is booked I'm going to co-ordinate with Belkis on the restaurant, wedding location, etc. We opted not to send STDs and have been using our website for most of our communication with friends and family. Also, I think we are going to keep things fairly simple and not bring any center pieces or extra decorations so that's one less thing to worry about. But should I be worried that I don't have a dress yet? After reading all these threads I feel like I'm forgetting stuff!

Michele~ I love this thread as well..I was hanging out in the Vegas thread but nothing was poppin there...I love the April Brides!!!

Kim~thanks girl 150 I know right...I am finally not a noob anymore!!!

Dallasbride~will your guests be able to attend with short notice or is that not an issue? it's close to the holidays & we are still in a recession..so that might be something to consider..try getting the venue first and some prices and you should be able to pull it off...GL!!

Stacey~if your cool w/off the rack then you should be ok..sometime it takes longer to order but have u been looking at any pics or magazines to get an idea of what kind/style of dress you want? I know that really helped me..GL!!

stacey- I'd get to a dress shop a bit sooner if you can. A lot of shops can still order some dresses in within six months but it depends on the style, they can even put a rush on a dress sometimes but the more time you give the shop the more options that you'll have. On the other hand, off the rack can save you some $ if you're flexible about styles. Either way, make sure you leave enough time for alterations, too.

As for STD's I didn't bother with them either to be honest. I emailed out my website to everyone and my mother (who is practically the town crier anyway lol) has been keeping family in the loop. I'm sending out the formal invites very soon though- I should have them next week and directly in the mail they will go!

Thanks girls! I have been looking in magazines and on line at different styles but I seem to have trouble really nailing down a style that I like....I find a style that I think I want and the come across something completely different and change my mind! I'm a bit worried now but am keeping my fingers crossed that I find "the dress" soon!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
