This made me smile- it made me think of my future mother in law. She's such a nice person but she was scared to death that we were going to make her book her trip online or through email too! She was pretty humourous about it.

I know she really wants me to book it for her, and maybe I should be a good daughter and at least help her, but it pisses me off that I sat and actually gave her lessons on how to use her email, and even created an instruction manual to follow AND SHE STILL CAN'T (or won't) do it!!!! It's a matter of printing out a form, filling it out and faxing it back. It's not that hard.

My mom was the same way with the computer for a very loooong time. I also wrote out a little instruction booklet with pictures and everything so that she knew what all the icons opened. I think for her it was just a matter of practicing so if your mom isn't willing to play around a little bit then she'll continue to be frustrated by it unfortunately. But just let her know that lots of other moms are learning too so it's not just her! And for your own sanity, at least you know we've all gone through very similar things with our moms and made it out the other side!!

I'm lucky my FMIL is savvy with computers. But my mom on the other hand needs a little help. She's gotten better over the years but like Michele's mom, my mom wants me to book her room and flights for her too. I figure my dad can handle that stuff. They can worry about the booking, that's the least they can do... I will worry about the rest of the wedding!

LOL!! I am in the same boat. My dad doesn't even know how to turn a pc on!!! He ask me everyday to re teac him how to get his voice mail from his cell phone!!! My mom isn't as bad shes actually pretty good the e-mail, she plays cards.

But My dad gave me the money to book for them.But I'm ok with that, atleast I know it got booked right and they will def be there at the right resort!

Hey ladies,

 

I introduced myself on this thread about a month ago, but haven't really posted anything here since then. Time flies and I have been busy. Just wanted to give an update of where I am (this update was actually prompted by another thread titled "April 2010 Brides - 6 month update")...

 

Done so far:

• Booked wedding/honeymoon cruise

• Selected travel agent to book staterooms for our guests

• Mailed save-the-date packages; approx 50 (http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...e-dates-49301/)

• Ordered wedding dress; delivery in January 2010 (http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...st-63-a-49000/)

• Ordered natural touch bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, and cake topper; should have photo proofs in mid-November (Realistic Silk Wedding Flowers, Natural Touch and Silk Bridal Bouquets)

• Decided on wedding party (Maid of Honor, one Bridesmaid, Best Man, and one Groomsman; no flower girl or ring bearer)

• Created wedding website (Kenneth & Natasha - wedding website by mywedding.com)

• Set-up wedding registries (Carnival Honeymoon Wishes, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Amazon.com)

• Purchased wedding bands (got a great deal at Zales)

• Selected wedding ceremony music and bride/groom reception entrance music

 

Still to do

• Purchase Bridal accessories (shoes, veil, jewelry, etc.)

• Decide on hair/makeup for wedding day

• Decide on mother of the bride and father of the bride attire; my FI’s mother will not be able to attend due to health reasons and his father is deceased

• Select/order bridesmaids dresses and accessories

• Pick out groom’s and groomsmen’s tuxes (my FI wants to lose some more weight before we pick out his tux)

• Select/order invitations

• Order bridesmaids’/groomsmen’s gifts

• Plan Welcome Reception in Miami, FL the evening before the wedding ceremony

• Select hotel for guests to stay in Miami the evening before the wedding

• Arrange transportation from hotel to port for guests

• OOT bags (not sure if we are doing this yet)

 

There’s probably a lot more that I am forgetting…. So much to do!

Wow- awesome completed list shortnsweet- well done! I saw that you're not sure about the OT bags- I'm going back and forth on this one too. I might just do a welcome gift and a favour at the reception- I just don't want to carry a bunch of stuff with me. Is anyone else thinking about forgoing the whole bag concept?

I decided to do the bags because allot of my guest, it'll be their first time to the caribbean's. I remember my first time. Allot of things I packed I didn't need, allot of things I really needed I didn't pack. I thought I'd put the things you forget to pack in the OOT bags. I am not having allot of guest either, so it's another reason why I said it would be good.
My big thing I want people to have is the travel mugs. As the resorts usualy give you small plastic cups. Maybe you could just give that as a welcome give (it will def be used all week)
