ebredhawk,

I love your centerpieces.. wow.. wish I saw that before I bought all mine to make.. it's so beautiful!!!

I think your right, I'm going to e-mail everyone let them know the due that for the rvsp are coming.

Do you think e-mail is to tacky? I really don't want to go spend another $40 or so on stamps.

so my flower lady just put together a trial centerpiece for me (since my own trial was an epic fail) and i LOVE it! she said the vase needs to be bigger (hers is an 8 in. cylinder vs. the 11 in. square i have) so just imagine more space in there! plus i'm adding the floating candles too. what do you think?
Kimmy - Welcome to the site! If you're feeling a bit overwhelmed then you're in the right place! LOL! All of us here have had our moments along the way but just know that each of us is at different stages in our planning even with all our weddings in the same month. It works out really well because we can all draw on each other when we need some advice. Speak up when you need something!

Erin/Tracy - I might be the other end of the spectrum that I gave my guests until January 31 to RSVP so they do have lots of time still to get back to me and I really don't want to wait that long!! LOL! Come on people, I have OOT bags to order things for!! I guess what helps me is that for all the people that it is really important for them to attend, we know where they stand whether they are booked or not (some just confirmed). I think it's really unfair that so few of your guests have booked. If you have a wedding website, I'd be starting some countdowns of like 6 booked, 37 to go! Or I know on my website you can create polls for people to vote on, so that might be a tool you could use to get an indication of who is planning to go but is basically just being stupid and sitting on their hands.

Erin - I LOVE YOUR VASES! They are super pretty! I almost think that you don't even need the floating candles in them, but since I haven't seen what they'd look like I'm sure they would be awesome either way. Now, did your flower lady show you how to accomplish this look on your own, because otherwise I'm missing something on how these end up at your DW location!!!confused.gif

Oddly enough, we thought that my parents were not likely going to be able to come to our wedding (damn economy) and that FI's parents would be the shoe in to book soonest. Turns out that my parents decided to surprise me and book almost right away, while FI's parents are the ones giving us a ton of pushback about everything (yep, good ranting material right there!) and we're not even sure when they're going to 'bother' booking.

My quote the other day was "it takes getting pissed off at someone else's family to suddenly realize that your own family is actually pretty cool". I am so happy that my parents have booked their trip!! Enough said :)

So I just realized that my job blocks Photobucket so I can't see any pics until I get home sad.gif

You ladies have totally inpired me to DIY my invites... I need to finalize the design by the weekend and start ordering the supplies!! I have a friend who was a graphic design major, so hopefully I can get him to help me with bringing my ideas to life :)

I do have a question as far as printing is concerned... Are you using inkjet or laserjet printers or does it make any difference??

I still have very few people to book after they received the STD, so hopefully the formal invite will give them the extra push!! I just don't get why people wait until the last minute, it's only going to cost them extra the longer they wait!!

Michele - congrats to you for doing all that work by hand!!! I am scared of u :) I would have been so worrried about making mistakes...

mskimmy - welcome and you will be caught up in no time with the help of the fabulous April 2010 girls!!

thanks girls!! she did an amazing job putting them together! meghan, i agree i may not even need the candles, but the vases i'm using are about 3 in. taller than that, so it may help to take up space at the top. i'll have to see once she puts them together with mine.

in terms of how she put it together, if you have artificial flowers make sure you have enough of the stem that you can take the end and loop it around to make sort of a base out of it. you put that in the vase and put the rocks on top of the "base" so it holds it in place. (does that make sense??) if you have real flowers you usually have to tie wire to the bottom, make a base out of that and then go for it. i can ask my flower lady to take pictures of the steps if that would help!

meghan, i am SO sorry that FI's parents are being like that. why do people have to get so combative about weddings? just be happy and the enjoy the moment, people! at least it gives you a healthy perspective as to how awesome your own fam is!

yayyy christina, you can do the DIY invites, i know it!! i use our normal home inkjet printer (one of those HP printer/copier/scanner things) and it worked perfectly. just make sure it can handle whatever weight cardstock you get and you're good to go.

aww.. I'm so happy your parents are able to go. And they already booked!!
I'm lucky in the way, my Fi sister just got married on my FI parents land. SO they really had to host the wedding, was allot of work for them, so when we told them DW they were like "when do we book" So we told them to hold off untill I saw good prices (now, we will call them soon to let them know they can book whenever they please) my parents are waiting for the same.
But no one has to book now, I just want to know if they are showing up or not.

Anyone have good advice for wording an e-mail leting ppl know I need to know if they are coming?

That's just it, I don't need ppl to book now, I just want to know so I can start ordering the oot bags, and things that go into. I've started with things I saw on special, but I may need more, or I may have boughten to many (which is the last thing I can afford to do) sooooo fustrating. funny thing is, most ppl I've sent my invites to, are married, they have gone through this. Not fair!!!

i have seen people give examples before, i but i would just say something along the lines of "i hope everyone is doing well. just wanted to remind you all that the rsvp deadline for our wedding is approaching soon and we would love to hear from you so we can make sure we get all of our fun goodies and events planned!".

here are some other ideas:

Michele- have you thought of custom stamps for the invitations? zazzle.com allows you to make your own, i don't know if they do them in $0.64 though.

I thought about that but was LAZY - the dolphins will be fine - we're on the beach right?

mskimmy- Welcome!

Erin -- your centerpieces look AWESOME!!!!!

Christina - I only had 23 invitations so I didn't think it would be too bad - When I started stuffing the envelopes, I did realize that I'd written my parents address upside down. Good thing I got extra envelopes!

I seriously do not want to wait till Dec. 31 to start making OOT bags!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
