It's amazing how drugs can help some people and then hurt others.

Tracy -

I hope the Humira keeps working for you!

Erin - the bags and towels look awesome like everything else you've done!

Ladies - I finally got the pictures of me trying on my dress off my mom's camera - will be posting in the wedding attire section ASAP!!!

Tracy, I definitely think your flowers stand out more on their own with less blue stones in the vase and it looks wonderful. And I am totally jealous of your BM bouquets! Are they easy to make/assemble?? I wasn't sure if I was going to attempt it, so maybe you can PM me and pass on some of the details, unless of course everyone else wants your tips and tricks too!! I agree that the white ribbon would be a good way to go so I can't wait to see the test sample!

And congrats about the remission!! I don't have crohns but have dealt with it in the past and I have chronic stomach problems of my own so I can relate a little bit. My doctors actually thought I may have crohns/colitis but nothing showed in any of my tests. Still, it must be a fantastic feeling for you to be symptom free, given everything you've had to deal with! I hope it continutes well for you!

Erin - those towels and bags are fantastic!! How many guests are you having at your wedding? I'd initially been thinking that I was going to do individual bags for everyone but we've got about 50 people expected to come so I know the costs are going to get up there quickly so maybe a bag per two is the way to go. The only bags that I've bought so far were from Michaels. They had really cute canvas bags embroidered with Bride or Bridesmaid on them and they were on sale for $7.99!!! I figured they'd be getting a special bag anyways, so I may as well start out with the bag itself!!

thanks tracy!! the logo on the bags and the towels are all embroidered.. there's an embroidery shop in our meijer grocery store and she ordered the bags and did the logos. she gave us an amazing discount on everything since we were doing it in bulk.

meghan, we got 12 bags since we expect about 20 or so people and we wanted to make sure we had enough! since we are doing so few, we decided to get a nicer quality bag since it could still fit in our budget. this way our guests can use them for a while!

michele, i am on my way over to your dress thread right now! can't wait to see how it looks, although i'm sure it's beautiful!!

i was not a big fan of the centerpieces i put together last weekend, so my amazing flower lady (also my mom's friend) is making up some samples for me this weekend. i'm sure i'll have pictures to share with you all and get your input! i thought the whole drowned flower look was super easy, but it turns out there is a lot more involved in it than i thought! hopefully it's just the mechanics of it and i won't have to buy any other supplies!

Tracy- The clear stones really do bring out the colors of your flowers. Your BM bouquets are beautiful. Again, I'll hve to agree that the green ribbon will make your stems look like a big stick. A simple bow will suffice to hold it all together. Congrats on your remission! I know nothing about crohn's but I work in the pharma industry and I know about the resistence of diseases and cancers, but I'm really happy for you!

Michele- I can't wait to see your dress!! Have you posted a thread with pics yet? It looks like the April brides' dresses are starting to come in now. It makes the whole wedding come together doesn't it??! I have my pics on my camera that I need to upload too lol. I will do that soon!

Erin- I moved after first grade, lol. I told you, it was long long ago that I've lived there. I used to visit every christmas/thanksgiving to see the rest of the family but now that my brother and I are older my parents have stopped visiting. I guess they figure if we wanted to visit Cincy we would do it on our own.. which is pretty much how it happens now lol. At my cousins wedding they had the drowned flower in a vase centerpiece. From the looks of it they just dunked a flower into a vase filled with water. I guess there is more to it because even before everyone was seated at the reception I noticed air bubbles on the stems/flower... it wasn't pretty lol. Is this what you are referring to, with it be tougher than it looks?

you mean you don't want to come back to cincy whenever you have free time?! i can't imagine why not... :)

yeah, it's something like that... i was under the impression (like you said) that you just drop the flowers in and "voila!" it's all gorgeous and pretty. to get the flowers to stay in place and look right you actually have to secure them somehow unless you have a WHOLE bunch. that doesn't bother me though.. that way at least i know it'll look right, and i really love the ones that have the one single bloom sitting on the rocks on the bottom.

It was so simple in making the flowers (except for this bloody bow I'm trying to make, not so easy) just collect the flowers you want as a bouquet, and tape it very very tight with floral tape. Then you do the same with the ribbon. and you have yourself a bouquet!! :)

Any question, more then happy to help in any way.

SOrry for the delay in reply. Trying to figure out some other health issues now!!!

Thanks everyone for their support and understanding!! It's a tough disease I must say.. but when you find such nice people like you guys, my friends here at home and family, does make it allot easier to deal with.

Thanks for the tips on the bouquets! My sister is pretty handy with these things, so maybe I'll enlist her help and see what we come up with. Did you just get your flowers at Michaels or were they from someplace else?

As for the stomach issues, I really only have occasional symptoms now and they're much more manageable than they used to be! The one conclusion that doctors had given me was that the problems may have been stress induced (or increased/exaggerated by stress) which maybe I shouldn't be surprised about given that I was dating my EX at the time when the problems were the worst!! LOL! So two reasons that I'm super glad to have made said ex an ex - I rarely have stomach issues and of course ended up with my FI!!!!!!!!!! I got the best deal in the world!!!!

There you go, you'll have to show up some pics whenever you get around to it. It really isn't to hard, as long as you don't expect a real bouquet like the florist makes. I ended up NOT getting them at Michaels. Just for 4 centerpieces would have come up to about 140$ without the vase. So I went to the dollar store. But wal-mart also has nice ones for about $4 a stem so it could be considered if you have the budged (I mean still comes out cheaper then buying the bouquets, you could even leave some vase empty at the head table, and the girls can put their bouquets in there when they get into the reception)

I went through the same thing with the whole ex and then found my FI!

I'm so happy to hear your story. Glad to hear the pain is under control!! :)

so happy for ya!!

just got a call and my wedding band is done!! i get to go check it out on saturday! so far i have only seen it in the really raw form (not shiney, wrong size and no diamonds) so i can't wait to see the finished product and compare it with my e-ring!

tracy, you should def be proud of doing those flowers yourself! are you doing bouts for the guys too?

my mom decided this weekend that she wants to throw me a shower and i'm SO happy. there are a lot of traditional wedding things that i didn't want to do, but that was one of the things i wanted. my brother is getting married in a month and she went to his FI's and was inspired! i guess that means we really need to register at some point... FI's going to LOVE that! (note the sarcasm)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
