good news! my dress came in and my mom just went to pick it up! i can't wait to see it when i get home from work!! :)

bad news- over the weekend i went to ohio for my cousin's wedding.. and guess what? his ceremony is exactly like mine!! there's was lakeside in a gazebo, mine will be beach side in a gazebo. the bride came in a horse-carriage, i will come in a horse-carriage...they had a violinits and guitarist, i will have a harpist...i don't want to look like i'm copying them and i'm sure i can re-arrange/change some of my wedding package but WHAT AM I GOING TO DO??!!

i've already paid for my wedding package but do you guys have any ideas on how to make things a lil different? i was really excited about the horse-drawn carriage ride with my dad and the gazebo/beach ceremony, too sad.gif

needless to say it was a beautiful wedding but now i'm kind of bummed bc i wanted to see myself in that situation, that sounds so selfish but it's true!

Hooray for getting your dress today!! I bet you are so super excited!!! I'm totally the person who wouldn't be able to wait at work all day, I'd want to leave early!

As for your wedding similarity I was thinking, is there any chance of you being able to ride the horse in - without the carriagehuh.gif?? And then if you planned to ride it out with your new hubby afterwards then you could both ride out on it? Not sure if you're allowed, or if you'd even be comfortable doing that, but I'm sure it would be amazing and still make it different from your cousins? And I think with the music you'll still be okay because having a guitarist or harpist at a wedding is a fairly regular (and beautiful!!!) tradition so I doubt if many of your guests would draw out the comparison there, I think.

Overall, with your cousin being married more local to where you are, and you having a DW, there will be so much about the surroundings and theme and atmosphere that are different between the two that your guests won't even be thinking about it! Don't give up on having your dream wedding!!!

p.s. I was having a similar issue because FI's brother & SIL also did a destination wedding in mexico (puerto vallarta) a couple years ago and I was a bit bummed out thinking that his family would all feel like we were copying them. But I think because we're on the caribbean side and have a totally different feel for our entire wedding that it made me okay with it. Oh and that I made sure we went with different colours and a very different dress :) I hope you're able to do the same!!

hey! this is ME shaking YOU!! do not let your cousin's wedding steal your thunder. the fact of the matter is you had this idea before you went and saw that she had it too. great minds think alike - righthuh.gif just remember that, and maybe use that in a little speech during your reception. you could say something like... "what's next? a baby race?...you better not have twins, cuz then i might have 'em too..." i dunno - maybe that was lame, but all i could come up with at 10:16am on quite possibly the most exciting morning of my life so far!! (we get the keys to our house today!! and i sent our invitations this morning!)

DON'T FREAK OUT! smile03.gif

Yay!!! I'm so happy that your dress is here Tonya!!!! Can't wait to see pictures!!!!

Do not worry about any similarities between your wedding and your cousins or I will be right behind Miss Di to shake you.

He got married in Ohio (no offense Erin)

You are getting married where? Cancun? And at Moon Palace, a place that everybody loves and having been there myself can personally vouch that it rocks....

You have 6 1/2 months for people to forget about it, and when people come to your to your wedding, all they will be thinking is

OH MY GOD SHE'S GETTING MARRIED ON THE BEACH IN MEXICO HOW AWESOME IS THIS!!!!

and whatever your cousin did will be forgotten.

Beachside Gazebo beats the lakeside

Horsedrawn Carriage on the beach with ocean waves sweeping at the hoofs of the horses....you cannot top that!!!!!

And you will be in Mexico...sunsets are gorgeous...the resort is sooo sooo nice...seriously, I don't think you have anything to worry about....plus your wedding album will kick his butt -didn't you win a free photographer?

You are going to have an amazing wedding....do not stress.

soooo i practiced my centerpieces this weekend and they were super blah... i'm a clean lines kinda gal and they just looked messy. i found a picture of what i really want them to look like but can't for the life of me figure out what kind of flower this is (it would be perfect with my white/black/pink theme). anyone have any ideas? even the lady who's doing my flowers didn't know!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
