April 2010 Brides

caribbeanlover.. it took my FI FOREVER to pick his GM! he had a best man already, but he was trying to decide whether or not to include his other BIL, even though he's not real close with him. the only reason he was going to include him was so that we would be even (i have a MOH and 2 BM), but i told him if it was only for the sake of symmetry, don't do it. i think he'll be much happier with just his 2 best friends up there with him!

robinkar, i love the candle idea.. those sound really cute! are they online so we can see them?

diane, i love that you have a "young" group and an "old" group! i'm sure you'll have fun regardless, and maybe you can get some of the older folks to party with you guys too! that caribbean mentality is contagious!

welcome happygolucky.. definitely sounds like you've got things in order! if i tried to follow a list and stay "on pace" i think i would drive myself crazy! isn't kleinfelds that place where they film "say yes to the dress"?

it's nice to know I someone else is not having the same amount in the bridal party. I may just end up doing this. I really don't want to have to tell another bridesmaid she doesn't need to be one (and it's my FI sister, but I had another idea for her, she could do the sand ceremony) My FI ask his bf but he has money issues. Let me know if this makes since, maybe you guys can give me advice.

So My FI BF said yes but he wouldn't be able to come to our wedding, and he wouldn't have the money to make him a bachalore party. Do you think he should have just said 'I appreciated your offer, I would love to do it, but due to money issues I think it'd be best you ask someone who can go and throw you a party'?

Now my FI doesn't really feel like asking someone else, and he's not sure who'll be able to make it. How should we work around this? as I will need to know to send a copy their passport with our papers.

he said yes to being a groomsman and he can't come to the ceremony? that seems silly to me! if your FI feels uncomfortable asking someone else, maybe have him talk to his friend and see if he wouldn't mind if your FI had someone else stand up there with him at the ceremony? i think the response you came up with would have made much more sense though!

Thanks! nice to know I'm not going craZy!

I'll speak with him tonight, see what he has to say, but I know my FI he'd like to wait to the last last minute.Maybe in his mind, he'd like to see who send their rsvp back with a yes, then maybe ask someone. But the way I see it is, if you ask someone maybe they will try extra hard to come.

CaribbeanLover... I am back home. Never did make it to Fairview! I ended up spending time with my friend in St. Lazare. It was nice to catch up. She is coming to the wedding as my Bridesmaid. My sister is Maid of Honor and my FI's daughter is another bridesmaid.

The OOT bags I plan to do will definitely contain beach towel and personal care essentials. I think I will can the flip flop idea. Too hard to coordinate sizes. I saw a really cute face cloth idea... its wrapped like a striped candy! I just have to remember where I saw it because I didn't notice the price. My sister had said that a friend of hers went to the Dominican awhile ago and the hotel she was at had no facecloth so this would be a good thing (although I would imagine the Grand Palladium has them). Anyhow I will find my paper and let you know.

As both you and Sperger will be there for my wedding which will be first, I will gladly pass along anything I do use for decor if you gals want it. I don't plan on bringing to much down, but you never know. I may decide to in the end. Also I saw pictures of the tuquoise sashes on the chairs (I think it was in a wedding video taken at the GP), that my wedding coordinator/travel agent sent me. I will double check with her. If Carolina at the hotel does not have this colour, I will get them and leave them for both of you if either one of you chooses to use turquoise for your decor. Actually I am looking for more of a tiffany blue or oasis colour (This is what I would love for the bridesmaids but havent been looking for their dresses yet). I will keep you posted!

How is everything going with everyone's plans? I sent my invites but only gave guests until end of August to reply. This is rush but its really due to the fact that my travel agent has secured a group rate which is only good until the end of August. So it would be cheaper for those who definately know they are going, to book and confirm early. They just need to pay $250 deposit up front to reserve their seats. What day are you girls flying down on? I am flying on April 7th.

Talk to you later!

Hi Everyone - it's been CRAZY here -

Welcome to all the new April brides - I finally saw a Newbie with the same date as mine - Who knew April 10 would be so uncommon!

So my interview went really well - the woman I interviewed and I had some "small world" moments - she and I both worked with the same person at different times, and she's married to the brother of someone FI and I went to high school with. And we live in the same town. My industry is one of those where a lot of people know each other, but it was kind of funny. She knows I'm going on vacation and expects the 2nd round of interviews to take place the week I get back so hopefully I will get to do that - it's an awesome job at a good company....I don't want to get too excited yet.

And we're leaving tomorrow for a 10 day road trip of New England on the motorcycle....So Excited!

And Still Nobody has booked....

lol...my friend swears by the time I get home she'll have done it!

See you in 10 days!!!!

dawn, you made my day! i'm thrilled about the chair bows, thank you SO MUCH!! I would use the turqoise, but if you did happen to receive the oasis color, that would be even better. anyway, thanks. smile03.gif

jersey, i think it sounds very promising, and exciting! i'm a former jersey girl myself, i miss it a lot, but my FI has a great job in NY, and we work for the same company.

I'm at a point where I'm deciding what to work on next (though I'm sure there's a million things to do). My big thing to find is my FI 's suit and the GM attire. I may have to drag him kicking and screaming! The thing in my favor is that he wants to buy more suits for work anyway, so maybe we can go next weekend. This weekend we have a BBQ, unless it gets rained out.

i don't think you are going crazy at all...if you ask someone to be part of your wedding party and they say yes...they sure as hell better be there! wink.gif seriously, it was wrong of him to agree to it and i think there is nothing wrong with having a little "talking to". i know girls that have declined being bridesmaids because of financial issues and i don't think there is anything wrong with that. good luck getting that FI and his party under control, lady! smile03.gif

miss di , Thanks so much! I spoke to the FI yesterday, I think he decided to wait until we get out rsvp backs on Oct 1st see is and isn't coming then he'll ask. I guess it wont make a difference since he doesn't really have close guy friends.

Funny I putting the BM in aqua color dress same the the GM and aqua color. so I would so use the ties.

I'll also be bring a couple of vases for the center piece for dinner recption, so if any of you want to borrow this, no problem I'll be filling it with sand and shells. Then scatter tea lite candles around the table.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
