April 2010 Brides

Things are starting to wrap-up a bit for everyone it seems, dress fitting, OOT bags, ...

A pink limo, pretty cool, wow! They must not rent those very often, who would be interested besides bachelorettes?

I would love to ponder about a nice up-do, I would put some nice crystals in there. You girls will look amazing. Sadly, I have this amazing concave cut, very short in the back with nice lenght (2-3 inches below the chin) in front, that finally makes me look like a grown-up and get me good comments all the time. Which means the only thing I can really do is straighten it perfectly, can't even put a hair flower or something, my hair is very fine & silky, it will just slip down. I will be pretty anyhow!

Are you able to use a comb or wire wrap in your hair?? Either of those might get a bit better grab if you've got fine hair. Either that or you could find something similar to mine that is able to wrap all the way around your head a couple times? They're called hair vines (took me FOREVER to figure that out) and might work for you as well!

I have really fine hair, too, so I feel your pain. I had a similar hairstyle, too, but I've been growing it out for the wedding so I can put it up. I honestly cannot wait untill we get back so I can cut it again. I got a facinator type thing for my hair and it has a smaller comb and it seems to hold okay- have you thought about something like that? Either way, your are so right, you'll be gorgeous!

I forgot last night- maybe I'll try later today. Photobucket is blocked here on my work computer but I can use one of the public computers here at the library and post some pics if it's not too busy.

Yeah- I work every Sunday. I work Sun-Thurs at the public library here in towm instead of Mon-Fri because the library is open seven days a week. On most Fridays I work at the high school library as a second job (they don't have a full-time school librarian so I'm their part-time school librarian).

I agree with this totally- a hair vine would look great as well. They also look a lot more comfortable than hairbands (I hate hairbands, they pinch my head).

Did anyone else buy a new home this past year and qualify for the first time home buyer's credit? UGH!!! We bought a new home last April and because we werent married Ben qualified for the credit. (If we were married when we bought it, we wouldnt have qualified because I've owned a house in the past 3 years) I dont know what is going on but we sent our taxes in the end of January and they still havent processed. The IRS is making people file on paper if you have that credit vs electronic. I think maybe too many people tried to scam the government in past years. Ben called them and they said there is an issue with our return. We are using that money to pay for the wedding and now they are telling us we may not get it by then?! Are you kidding mehuh.gif? We are super stressed. They couldnt tell us over the phone what was wrong, only that we'll get a letter that we'll need to address as soon as it arrives. She couldnt even tell me when the letter would get there. I emailed my dad this morning asking him if he could temorarily lend us the $$ until whatever is wrong got straightened out and he is hesitant to lend us that much money. If you knew my dad you would understand why. He has been burned lending money to people etc. I've however never asked him for money in my adult life ever so I'm hoping he agrees. Best case scenario, the money comes just in time I dont need to borrow it anyways. UGH...

Does anyone else know anyone who claimed this credit on their '09 taxes? If so, did everything process smoothly for themhuh.gif?

I'm hoping they dont try to reject it because I'm a co-owner on the home. The law specifically says that if we are unmarried my half of the credit can transfer to the qualifying party that co owns the home so that person would get the full credit. UGH...

Sorry to hear about that- that truly sucks. We had an issue with our tax return two years ago, we get special credits for living so far north in such an isolated area and they wanted all kinds of proof that we'd lived up here for enough time before they'd give us anything. Fingers crossed that they just need some additional paperwork from you.

We did buy a house last year and qualify for a tax credit but I'm Canadian so I can't give you much advice. I'm assuming that the tax man down there is a bastard too, though, so I do feel for you. Good luck- they'll get it sorted out eventually.

oh no Tara!!! I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with your house credit!! I imagine that there will be a lot of other people in the same boat as you but I know that doesn't necessarily make you feel any better.

Hopefully your dad will understand that it's a situation that is totally out of your control and that you wouldn't have asked otherwise. Maybe because it is likely to be a short term loan while you work out your tax stuff, he won't mind quite as much??

My dad (actually both parents) are a lot like your dad too, having been burned before with money loans so I can definitely understand why he'd be hesitant in the first place.

I really hope that you're able to get everything worked out in time! How ridiculous that you have to wait for the letter to come in the mail when you already had them on the phone. Ugh, I haven't even had time to do my taxes yet - how ridiculous is that!

I got the downstairs cleaned up, now I have to work on getting the upstairs cleaned up today. My sister will be in town next weekend from Illinois. She is getting her bridesmaids dress fitting here and I will be getting my second dress fitting the same day (bought at the same bridal shop). I will be carrying her bridesmaids dress down to Miami with me, this way she doesnâ€t have to bring her dress on the plane.

Yesterday, I finally finished up my OOT bags and wedding favor bags. Here are a few pictures; check out my post for more pictures http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...3/#post1226110

Taxes suck and asking money from your parents is humbling. I wouldn't do it if my life depended on it! My fingers are crossed for you Tara!

So much trouble focusing!

My photographer emailed me that she can't find my contract - so now i have to go find it - I THINK i know where it is - Are you guys going to have pictures taken of you getting ready?
it's just me and my mom in the spa getting hair - my girlfriend is a little later but I've asked her to be with me when I get mine so I don't have a breakdown (I've been a little stressed lately).

Tara,

I'm so sorry to hear about all your stresses and problems with the taxes and house.

I wish I could give you advice, but we've never been home owners, and we wont for another 2 years! sad.gif

I hope it all works out in the end for you, keep us posted!!

Michele,

Can' wait to see your bags. I too finished mine.. just waiting for the brochures to come in the mail!!

But mine isn't half as fancy as Nats, I have no name tag or anything lol didn't even think about it!!!

Your not alone, just to show you how emotional l am.. I was getting together my thank you poems to my parents, bridesmaids and FI.. and I can't read through without crying!!!! I'm going to be horrible on the wedding day!!!

I'll be getting photo's taken while we/ I am getting ready. I'm the only one going to the spa tho for my hair, the rest of the girls/mom will be doing it their selves. The spa is charging me $130 to do my hair...no one else wants to pay those prices, and I don't blame them.. I don't either.. but it's a one and a life time thing.

I know your stress now, but I am 100% positive most of that will go out the window when you have your first meeting with your WC, your realize it's all up to her from that point on ,you can just go enjoy your vacation.

yikes.. so much to catch up on!! thanks for giving everyone the party update though, kim! it was a blast and i was so thrilled that she was able to show up!! we're sort of a low key bunch, but we had a great spot at the bar so we could see the skyline.. it was beautiful! kim, were you there when one of jeremy's sisters got the guy to strip? that was a smidge embarassing!!

although i'm a cpa, i have no idea what the deal is with the homebuyers credit, but i hope it all gets figured out for you guys!! i can tell you from experience that the IRS has no sense of urgency whatsoever. i will keep my fingers crossed that everything gets figured out for you guys with enough time to spare before the wedding!!

natasha, your bags look great! your guests are going to absolutely love them!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
