I'm wearing my same dress too - I love it and spent enough on it that I'm not getting another dress - I've heard that they are fine after if you rinse them well. If I can sell it afterwards, that's great. If I can't i will donate it.

I will definitely check my hair and make up in the morning and see how it looks - if it needs some fixing i'll do it - but i don't want to spend too much time on the hair - especially since eventually it's going to be in the water!!!

I'm going to have to ask a friend to videotape as well - I'm not doing a videographer either.

time is really ticking ladies - I'm under the 2 month mark! i started this thread in June -we have 177 pages and 1770 posts!!!

I think I've ordered everything for my OOT bags and last night I ordered barefoot sandals from Etsy.

Yeah I'm not sure about how often sleeping in the hair style and letting it down works, but many people have mentioned it, and like I said, my photographer wants a messy look anyway, so it's worth a try! But I agree, I'm probably not going to have the energy for a photoshoot after the wedding, I just love that my photographer is being so laid back that we can play it by ear! :0) Erin, that totally does make sense! And I thought, going into dress shopping, that I would FOR SURE use my dress for the TTD, since it costs so much, you might as well get 2 uses out of it! However, I now know I just COULDN'T do it, especially since I figured out something different that I want to do with my dress after. I want to get it altered into a short dress after the wedding, to wear on our first anniversary. I'm already thinking of planning a trip next year over our first anniversary to celebrate, and give me a reason to wear the dress! :0) I hope it works out! What is everyone else doing with theirs? I searched for some creative ideas, but didn't see much, except creating a christening outfit for future children, and the TTD use.

Yes we are flying down our own photographer, for me, photos are soooo important, I don't even want to know how many pictures I take in a year! So we definitely budgetted for that, and actually got a great deal. I fell in love with my photographer Barb at a wedding show, and she had interest in doing a destination wedding because she never had before, so she agreed to do it for JUST the cost of travel/accomodation. We could have paid for a few nights only, but it would have cost in the same neighbourhood, so we opted to take her for the whole week, and she's shooting everything, rehearsal, welcome dinner, getting ready, ceremony, reception, trash the dress, excursion, etc. We really lucked out!

I love all these hairstyles, they are absolutely gorgeous! I've heard good things about hte DPC spa and how they are with hair. However, I don't think I'd be comfortable not having done trials ahead of time, and putting all my faith in them, so I'm lucky enough to have a bridesmaid that is stellar with hair, so we're going to do a couple trials and she'll be doing it the day of. Mainly just a bunch of curls in an updo, since I have a tiara and a veil.

Michele, I love the barefoot sandals.

I was considering this, 1 question.. aren't you afraid the sand will be to hot?! I know it's why I didn't buy it.. as a lot of times when down south I need my flip flops to walk in the sand to get to my chair cause it's too hot.

I feel in love with me dress when we originally planned an in town churching wedding. I'm keeping this one for my ceremony, but will change into a lighter dress.. I will use this dress for the TTD. We are having a reception in July for family and close friends who could attend. So I didn't want to ruin it for that. Plus it was enough money I didn't want to ruin it.

But I did hear, once your done your session to go right to your room, in the shower (with the dress on) and then hang dry it for the rest of your stay.. should be good as new! (definitely depends on the material but my 'church' dress wouldn't last through the salt water)

Sounds like you have an amazing photographer, your so lucky you'll have all those pictures.

I will add cameras to the dinner tables and get guest to take our evening photo's as my photographer is there just for the ceremony.

I'm wearing the same dress for everything, too. Mine is pretty simple and should hold up pretty well, plus it shouldn't be too hot. I think I'll clean it in the bathtub with some Woolite after the TTD, and I'll just donate it somewhere after the wedding. If it gets wrecked, it's not the end of the world.

I also bought a dress from Sears....mostly because I am having an AHR and don't want to take the chance that it will be ruined with the sale water. To be honest with you I'm a tad disappointed that I won't get to wear my real dress for my TTD. Not all that impressed with my dress from Sears but with some alterations hope that it will look good in my TTD pics.

hehe sounds like a few of us bought a dress from Sears because I did too! They don't even have the same one available anymore and I have no pictures but wouldn't it be funny if we had the same ones?!?!

My pictures are going to be a little messed up. We have our photographer for two hours right after the ceremony and that's it so I'm really hoping that we can get some good beach pictures that don't involve getting completely soaked because we have to sit down for dinner right afterwards! But I'm very lucky that I have two guests that are photographers as a hobby and will be an amazing alternative for getting my TTD pics done a day or two later. So the reason I got the second dress was just in case I have time with our pro photogs. to do a super quick dress change so that I don't worry too much about getting a little wet. But most of all I'm just going to play it by ear and see how things go at the time.

And if my real wedding dress gets a little sandy and I have to wash it off in the shower, well, it's just one more excuse to pull my new hubbie into the shower with me!!!!!!!!

I was going to get that dress from sears but found one off the rack a little bit cheaper.

You girls will definitely have to post pics of the dress!!!!

Your so lucky you have photographer friends Meghan, I am sure you'll get loads of beautiful pictures.

Smart thinking with the whole dress thing and TTD!!

We will now probably be able to do a TTD, but we weren't going to just because it wasn't in the budget...or I just hadn't really though about it...but now that my Photographer SIL is coming, BIG YAY!!!!!, I think I'll be able to do a little TTD session too! which we're now totally stoked on!

My dress was a huge budget dress, so I'll most likely use the same one...and from what I hear as long as your a little careful to not get it snagged on anything, the sand and the salt water actually cleans dresses up as good as new - that's what a lot of the gals have posted on here anyway...and because I didn't spend a whole lot on my dress I'm not too worried about it!

TOO excited! I can't wait!

Michele, LOVE the barefoot sandals, they are beautiful!!!

Erin, I'm totally for next day hair do's and makeup, lol!! I think with a little clean up and maybe some hairspray the next day can be like a softer more subtle beautiful look...more natural and raw which will convey wonderfully on photos, plus photoshop is a wonderful thing to fix anything you don't like!!

oh yes how could i have forgotten to comment on your barefoot sandals! They are SO pretty! I'm totally just wearing flip flops for our ceremony and the entire day. Funny thing, I was in a shoe store the other day and mentioned I was wearing flats with my dress... and the girl starts showing me a bunch of shoes that have heels on them! Most of them were fairly low wedges (compared to the others around them at least) but I would never have considered them to be flats!! Too much of a sale grab I think... plus I've already ordered my shoes so it was easy to blow here off cheesy.gif

And Suzy has a good point... at least a few of my friends have mentioned recently that their dresses all got stepped on by mistake and wound up being ripped and needing repairs sad.gif Let's hope that none of us end up with the same fate until after all the pictures are done!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
