Summer doesn't last that long but it's actually pretty warm. There's 24 hour sunlight starting in June until August and the days are really long for a while before and after that so things can really heat up. We're usually in the 20's but around 30 isn't that uncommon. We BBQ a lot on our deck and it's awesome when you have people over because it doesn't get dark! It's hard to sleep, though. I grow some flowers and lettuce and things in pots on my deck, too but you can't have a regular garden outside with the permafrost which sucks. We have a plot at the community greenhouse, though, and we can grow all sorts of things there. Last year my sunflowers were over seven feet and they weren't the giant variety, either, and my hot peppers were awesome the year before. This year I'm going to try corn. I think we're going to build our own little greenhouse at home next year- I love to garden.

OMG - you guys live in COLD places - i should never complain about the winters here in Jersey...although we are getting a lot of snow for this area! Another blizzard coming tonight!

i'm going shopping with my mom for Veils today! hopefully we'll find something or at least a style I like - I saw some nice things on Etsy but I need to try stuff on to see how they look - I'll take pictures of course!

Ugh I am not having a good 24hrs right now!! Or at least very unsuccessful ones, they're not altogether bad. And sorry - this is going to be long!!!

Yesterday I wrote up a quick To-Do list (yellow post-it and everything!) of the things that were in the top of my head that I really need to do this week. That included ordering my mugs, the guys pants, wedding party sandals, MY ring (picked out but not purchased - two week delivery though!)... stuff that isn't difficult but are kind of big items to cross off.

So yesterday I figured out what I wanted for my mugs and decided to wait until the evening so I could run the actual mug colours by FI. I had two picked out that I wanted his okay on, otherwise I would've just placed the order from my office. Well wouldn't you know it that I go to show him the mug colours last night - and one isn't available anymore! It sounds like I might have to wait another month for them to come in too! So I'm going to call today and see what they can tell me.

After that, I figured well since I can't order my mugs I had better get off my bum and order the guys pants to give them extra time in case alterations need to be done. So I start putting through *that* order only to find out that one of my two colours of linen wasn't available online. I submitted a query through their support desk to find out they are out of stock for that too!! I'm waiting to hear back about when they might have more in again and if I would have enough time or if I'll have to just pick another colour.

So all in all, completely not a productive evening last night. My sister, my niece and I are going to order all the sandals for the wedding party tonight and then on the way to the bus this morning (50feet from my car) I slipped on some ice and fell and landed on a really weird spot on the side/back of my leg and have this huge bruise already which sucks mostly because I sit at my desk all day and it puts pressure on the bruise! I seriously need some alcohol in my coffee this morning!!

But now for the GREAT news of the day.... I am lucky enough that one of my oldest childhood friends makes her own jewelry and she was willing to suffer through my horrible ability of describing what I wanted to make my hair piece for me. In the end she made me TWO pieces because I just couldn't decide which style I liked better. I can't use photobucket at work so I'm trying another method so please let me know if it works for any of you!!! I'm not quite sure how I'm doing my hair yet which was part of the problem deciding. I'm SO excited for her to mail them. She had a few things on Etsy that have sold now so I'm trying to get her to post other pictures but you can see some more of her work at: Meister Artisan Jewelry.

This first one is really long and is meant to be wrapped around for that kind of Grecian look. Either that or it can be worn as a choker necklace. It's really lightweight wire that she use with some simple beads.

The second is also really light weight and super flexible. I find that my head really doesn't fit standard headbands too well so I needed something that I could adjust and form-fit however I wanted. The length is shorter than a headband and it has the loops on the end to pin in wherever I need to.

So that was my good news this morning and I'm going to run with it cheesy.gif Hope you all are having a great morning!!

Hey all... sorry its been a while since I've posted anything on this thread. Work has been crazy busy and its been hard for me to get on...

I need to vent..... My MOH is usually a little spacey. I expected that. However, I'm really starting to get annoyed! We are 2 months from the wedding. I've been engaged for over a year and she has not booked her flight, hotel or bought her dress or done a single thing regarding the wedding. I have asked her if she can afford it and truly wants to come and she always says yes, she can afford it and she wouldnt miss it for the world. I am just getting so worried that she is going to bail on me. I dont get it. I even offered for her to come over and we'd book it all together and still no. She can handle it she says. Its just really starting to irritate me.

Anyone else running into issues like mine? If so, how are you handling it??

Hey Tara, I'm really sorry to hear that you're having troubles with your MOH so far down the road! Is there any way that you can have a talk with her and give her some (immediate) deadlines to work with as far as booking and buying her dress? Let her know that if she can't take care of these things on her own, and won't let you help her with it, that you might be forced to make some difficult decisions as to whether or not she can even still be involved as your MOH? It's not fair at all for you to have someone that seems to be so totally uncommitted. In my case, my sister is my MOH and she only booked her trip yesterday but I never had any doubt that she would book it when she was able to. So unless you have the same certainty I think you need to seriously consider what other options you have, even though I hate to say that!!

Otherwise, would she be accepting if you told her that if she wasn't able to take care of at least part of that list (such as her dress) then you were going to go ahead on her behalf and she would owe you the money? I'm just thinking that if money is the issue and she doesn't want to admit it, then knowing that she might be in debt to you could get her to actually say something.

I think basically you just need to be upfront with her that you have the feeling she is NOT able to handle it like she keeps saying, and that with only two months left she needs to step up or admit that she can't. Good luck and I hope you get it sorted out!!

*sigh* I've somewhat had that talk with her. She assures me that she will for sure be able to do this etc etc. The only thing I can think of is that she is waiting for her tax returns. I however was the one that filed her returns for her this year so I know she has them by now. I just had that talk with her about a week and a half ago so I'm thinking that I'll wait another week or 2 before I have the "ultimatum talk" with her. By that time we will be exactly 2 months out from the wedding. (We all leave on the 17th of April)

She just keeps telling me that she'll pull it all off in time and that it is such a huge honor to be my MOH. Ugh... I just wish she'd book and be done with it already. Its just super frustrating.

Okay first - how in the world do you have taxes done already!?!?! I don't even have all the documents I need from work! WOW!

Second - maybe you could ask her for a "show of good faith" gesture. Mention that you understand she has other things on the go but if she could appease your bridal anxiety by at least purchasing her dress you would feel a whole lot better about giving her more time regarding her flights? Otherwise could you suggest that you have deadlines with the resort and if she's not booked then you can't count her in? It might not be the full truth but might help her realize these are necessarily deadlines that come from you but someone else??

i don't blame you at all for being frustrated by this - I think we'd all feel the same way too! We're here if you need to vent some more!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
