FI ordered a suit from StudioSuits.com (i found out about it on this forum) and it truly came out wonderful! He ordered it Jan 3 and had it in his hands ~Jan 23. Not bad, 20 days for a custom made, beige linen, $99 suit! So, if anyone's still in need of wedding attire it's not to late!

I love all your ideas meghan. My gf ask me what I wanted to do.. as I am the planner in the group, and the most organized lol. so I actually am making all the plans with her!!! But I am ok with that.. even giving all the credit to the MOH.

I like the bar scene every once and awhile. And to have alll your gf's partying with you in a once and a life time chance, so I took it lol.

I know we'll be doing a few games (I bought them for the MOH) as well as the sash and tiara (she asked lol) I sort of regret it but ah well! again once and a life time!

Wow it's going to be one crazy summer for you Meghan. I don't have any other weddings after mine.. it's why I am trying to get my MOH bf to propose lol (they've been together for 9 years!!!) How many gf's are getting married this summer?

Wow Kim, sounds like an amazing deal, We went to moors (suit store in mtl) and we paid $299!!!

Ah well he has a beige suit for a very long time now.

Alright so my first comment is this - I realize that in comparison to how long some of you have waited for the wedding to finally come, the last couple months don't seem like any time at all but seriously, this feels like the biggest game of "Hurry up and WAIT" that I have ever played and I DON'T LIKE IT! LOL! I know that I leave in about 10 weeks and that I've got a few big things to do in that time but it just seems to be dragging out!

Kimmy - good to know that your suit didn't take too long to get. We'll be ordering ours in the next week or so and I was worried that might be leaving it a little late.

Tracy - I have two of my closest gf's getting married this summer (so I'll definitely be involved with everything for their weddings!) plus another gf from work and they're all within a couple weeks of each other! And that's not even much compared to one gf (included above) who has I think seven or eight weddings other than her own and mine this year. It was seriously like popcorn around here this past fall and winter with the number of people I heard getting engaged. And it's funny that none of us wanted to wait until later in the year, or even into 2011 so that's why we're all packed in.

And what's the moral of the story?? I am SO glad that I picked our wedding date for early in the year!!!!!!! The first thing I told Geoff was that I wanted it well before the summer started so that we didn't get lumped in to all the other weddings - and man i'm sure glad that's the route we went!!

kim - what a great find! that is an amazing price for a custom suit!

tracy - you're so right.. once in a lifetime. might as well suck it up and go all out while we have such a great excuse, right??

meghan - i can't even imagine having that many weddings all at once. that's nuts!! it'll be a fun summer though!

speaking of those lovely bach parties again... i just found out from my MOH that a girl that i invited has decided to invite someone else as well! here's the story, this girl is really good friends with one of J's sisters and is a good family friend of theirs and i know her pretty well. they have another friend who i've never talked to in real life (just on fb a coulple of times) but is a photographer, so i asked her to take pictures for us at our AHR.

WELL, the first girl decided that her taking those pictures makes us best friends so she should be invited to my bach party. wtfhuh.gif my MOH asked me before she responded, but i said it was fine... my one rule was: if she's going to come, she has to bring her big, fancy camera!! i didn't have to deal with people inviting themselves and randoms to the wedding.. i guess this is the price i have to pay! at least i'll get some sweet pictures of the night out of the deal!

I feel the same way! I know I still have some things to do but I'm anxious for April. FI and I have been talking about it a lot lately and we're both really looking forward to getting married and to getting away. Especially with the weather lately- I can't wait for some sun. I keep looking over the website for my resort, and reading travel tips online and it's making it worse.

I just finished up a pre-wedding brochure to send out to the confirmed guests. I'm going to get Vista print to print it up next week. Is anyone else doing this? If so what are you putting in it? I put in some travel tips, a list of things that will be happening while we're down there and a map of the resort, plus contact info for us. Basically trying to give out some info and get the guests pumped up to go.

well I guess I could see the logic that if this photog. girl is a part of your ARH then it would be okay for her to come to your bach.... I still think you should have been asked BEFORE the invitation was extended, but you're right that at least it's not some complete and random stranger!

I sent my invite list off to the girls last week and had nearly 30 people on there which I thought was pretty good :) I had a few girls from work that said they'd really like to come even though they weren't invited to the wedding at all and I was happy to oblige that request!!

On another note, we're just in the last day or two before our RSVP deadline and even though we're still waiting on a few people, I've mostly just assumed they aren't coming. It's official that other than my parents, none of my old friends from the hometown are coming at all which sucks a little bit. I understand that they're a few provinces away and some have very legitimate reasons for not being able to go but others just didn't seem to have ANY reason or even show any regret that they can't go. But OH WELL FOR THEM! They're going to miss out on a super fun time and I'm not going to send them ANY pictures SO THERE! HA! Yep, that's me being spiteful. On the other hand, we had a few more of FI's friends from his hometown book so that does make me happy since he considers half of our friends here to be "my" friends.

And of all strange things, we've ended up with almost exactly the number of people coming with us as we originally wanted!! We'd said 30-40 would be ideal and got nervous inviting about 60 people even! But, who'd have thought it would work out so perfectly :)

I haven't decided on whether we'll do wedding brochures or not. I like the idea of them but we haven't really planned anything for during the week officially (we can't decide on any activities!) and don't have the wedding day planned out yet either. Plus most of our guests have traveled to Mexico before so they all know the usual routines.

I was sneaky though and a while back I had postcards made up saying "Coming Soon!! Geoff and Meghans' Wedding" with our resort name and date on there which I used a few of to send people to remind them of our RSVP deadline but which I'm using for the rest of our guests about a month ahead to remind them to check our website for last minute details and stuff. No one that received a postcard the first time ended up booking so I can get away with using them again for everyone else!!! Which is awesome because I really like them :)

Almost every time I talk to my friends here though, they keep asking why we didn't have the wedding sooner than April because they're all ready to go now, just like me!

today is 3 months and i feel like it can't come fast enough... and we started the countdown at 14 months!! i'm right on the border of being stressed w/ too little time, and being annoyed that time isn't going fast enough!

i made a booklet for our guests, but it's really more of a short novel. not many of them have travelled out of the country recently (if ever), and especially not to an all-inclusive resort. so to avoid any potential issues i am just going to micro-manage the crap out of them! my sections are:

-before we leave (things to know and do to prepare)

-dominican republic information (time zone, weather, etc.)

-packing list & tips (ideas for what to bring and reminders that they won't need as many clothes as they think)

-at the resort (tipping, what's included, etc.)

-the wedding day (schedule of events)

-beach bag goodies (these books are going in our OOT bags.. we're passing them out a month ahead of time, so i explained the usefulness of some of the items)

-share your memories (photo share instructions for when they get back)

i did it in powerpoint and it's about 18 slides right now! thank goodness i don't have to print too many!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
