As of right now we do not have any plans to go on a honeymoon. My sister had offered to pay for a honeymoon to Greece but she just had a baby (2 weeks ago) and her husband has been laid off for a couple of months now. That being said I COULD NOT take any money from her plus they are attending the wedding. She has a lot on her plate. I just wanted some time alone with no one around!

Thanks ladies I really apprciate all your help

I've just had 2 and a bit weeks with my aunt and I want to rip her frigging head off because we didn't have ONE day by ourselves! Therefore no you aren't selfish you just want some time together

Don't think you are selfish at all-ask DH isn;t the idea of a wedding to cater to each other or your guests? re you spending the rest of your life with him or you, he and his mother?? There will be plenty of time afterwards , even during your wedding , however, the mother , family and friends need to respect the fact that you need couple time alone. Hell, the first few days you will be running around doing administrative stuff so that is even less time with DH!

I am so glad it all worked out for you. It was crazy to think that you are being selfish by wanting this. I think it is perfectly normal to want this. If only I could dothe same as well! I also think that men tend to say we are being selfish when it is really them being unreasonable and unwilling to admit it! LOL That stupid make ego getting in the way again!

We stayed a week with guests and then a week by ourselves. THankfully they all left, but honestly the week after they left was so nice. DH and I got to do whatever we wanted without considering others. When we were with guests, we always felt like we needed to keep tabs on everyone, play hostess, invite them to dinner, etc. You def need a break to just relax, unwind, and celebrate being married. Explain that to him- he probably will see it that way too!

we did the same thing as Rachel...one week with guests and one week alone. It was perfect! We both really needed to relax without all the people being around.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
