Poll: Did you do a site visit??

We did not do a site visit & it worked out perfectly!

When we got engaged & started wedding planning we knew we were going to have a DW. Our first choice was Vegas but for some reason the pricing wasn't right at the hotels that we had contacted. One day DH was looking at our cruise pics of Jamaica & we talked about how that was one of our favorite ports during the cruise, thats what got the ball rolling on JA.

Like Danielle, I then hit the internet & trip advisor for reviews of JA resorts. ROR had great reviews at the time & when I contacted the WC and asked for more info on ROR pricing, the pricing was within our budget.

Then somehow, thank god, I found BDW. After coming here & finding positive reviews/experiences & pics from past ROR brides, it sealed the deal! It also helped tremendously that the future ROR brides & BDW as a community shared so much info.

Ofcourse I was worried about us taking the chance blindly since we hadn't been to ROR before, but again, we loved it as did everyone else & I will never regret doing it the way we did!

I knew I wanted PV, but wasn't sure about the site. I did my research and was 90% sure I was going to go with Las Caletas, but started browsing on BDW and heard about Playa Fiesta. After our site visit and going to several options we decided on PF.

I loved Las Caletas too (so beautiful and the staff was fantastic), but PF was just more our style. However, site unseen we probably would have gone with LC which would be a great choice.

We really went on a limb and picked a resort that wasnt even built yet and in a location noone had been to. We just wanted to go somewhere other than the usual mayan/cancun/PV and we knew we could count on the reputation of Dreams Resorts.

It was also the cheapeast five star for the time period we are going -over christmas/new years, which helped make our decision!

I knew it was going to be in Jamaica, because that is where my family is from.

As far as the location goes, it was more process of elimination. Most of the hotels/resorts have requirements for the # of guest staying on the property vs. # of guests at the wedding. This would not work for me since I have so many family members living in Jamaica, that would not be staying at the hotel.

AND, I picked the worse day of the year, New Years Eve. This knocked out many more places. In the end, I am using a hotel owned by a relative of my mom's.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
