Invite wording for guests invited only to the Stateside reception

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I am trying to send out Save The Dates for guests invited to my stateside reception at the same time I am sending out invitations to my Mexican wedding.

Does anyone have a wording they used?

I was thinking something along the lines of:

Amy

and

Mark

are having a small wedding ceremony in Mexico May 29 2010.

We would love you to join us as we return to Maryland and celebrate our marriage on

July 24 2010

Location Address

Time

Thoughts? Thanks!!!

I think that sounds good. I know that I would understand it and not think twice about it if I received that in the mail from a freind/relative! You could also just state it as 'Amy and Mark will be getting married in Mexico May 29, 2010. We would love for you to join us and celebrate our marriage at our reception in Maryland...' I guess thats basically already what you said.. haha.

I do not think you actually need to identify where and when you were married. Once you have identified it as a wedding reception then the guest will already know you would have been married prior to the date

I am sure that most guest will have already been made aware that you are having in intimate destination wedding ceremony.

You are invited to the wedding reception of X&X , on XX date......

Ok great ladies - thanks! I am also sending out the Save the dates a year early, but I am sending them out at the same time as the invites to my wedding - that way no one feels like I left them out when they hear my invites have gone out. Hope that doesn't look too crazy!

  • 2 weeks later...

This is also how we sent out our "announcements." On one side it stated that we were getting married, the date and location (no specifics, just the city, state). On the reverse side, it stated "please join us in celebration", date, time, location (specifics).

We hand delivered most of these and made sure to state that they were invited to the AHR. Even so, many of the guests were asking details about the wedding. I guess our the wording didn't give them the clue that they weren't invited to the wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
