I agree whole-heartedly!!!! We had a rather big DW (86 guests) and prior to leaving had a stag and doe (hosted by our wedding party) -- which I like to consider our 'local dance/drunk party' -- I never even considered an AHR, especially since so many see it as a gift grab.

Don't do it, and don't feel guilty!

I agree!! DONT DO IT! I just got back from my amazing DW last week, and have my AHR in August. I totally want to cancel it, I already had my perfect wedding day, i don't need to do it all over again for people who didn't come to my wedding... I am DREADING it and already tried to cancel it, but we would lose our deposit...

I am not having an AHR because I can't afford to and as someone previously mentioned, if we really wanted to celebrate at home we would have just gotten married at home. Also, I am not obligated to buy everyone food and drink just because I am getting married. My life with my FH comes first and unless I can still have the lifestyle I want after I am married, an AHR really is not high on the priority list.

it is you wedding so do what you feel is right - You will have enough to do with the move let alone organising a AHR in the short time you will be home before the big move (plus it is a long enough flight to get "down here" to Australia without being stressed out)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
