My estimated guest count for the DW is between 25-35 people. they are pretty much our immediate family (5 on each side) + us + bridal party (cool.gif + godparents/sponsors + closest friends, relatives, and guests' significant others. I was wondering if anyone was still doing things like the garter & bouquet toss, having a dance floor, head table etc. or just saving those things for the AHR? I'm askin bc for our group, it seems like it won't be as lively to do these things... but i'm not sure.. anyone w/ experience with this?

also would it would be easier to do a restaurant reception? how does that worK? just eat & leave? would love to hear some ideas!!! thanks :)

Our party is a bit bigger, about 70 - 75ppl. We have 1 hour between the ceremony and the dinner, and we'll be taking photos the two of us. To entertain the guests, we'll do a cocktail reception where they relax, grab some drinks, view a photo slideshow of some pre-wedding photos we took, and sign the guestbook.

I will likely have 15 people tops, so the only formal things we will likely do are speeches and our first dance. But we are really casual people and thats how I want it. If you want those things do it!!! I am a true believer that there are no wrongs or rights when it comes to your special day. Do what will make you happy!

  • 2 weeks later...

thanks everyone for all your input!

after attending a cousin's wedding over the weekend, i decided that i do want to do the first dance and bridal party intros.

however my top two banquet halls that could accomodate my number of guests do not allow amplified music... only strolling musicians (hawaiian duo/trio, string quartet, harpist, etc.) . but I have a specific song that i would like for our first dance which would require some sort of amplification. are you getting a DJ? im still debating on whether it would be worth it or if we could somehow work it out w/ the caterers about having that half hour w/ our music.

sorry if this was confusing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
