Who Should Pay for the Day Passes?

Recommended Posts

I am also an Iberostar bride.

We are paying for day passes because to me we think it is like charging a cover for your wedding to make guests pay for their 'day passes,' which is pretty tacky (sorry, no offense).

Our guests are flying in from the US and Europe and it's such a long trip so we felt the least we could do was pay for their day passes.

Each of the Iberostars where we are going has a different 'day/pass' c harge for the guests. I would suggest to you to select one of the least expensive to be married at so you can accomodate your guests.

I resurrected this topic because I, too, am having to deal with this!! sad.gif A girlfriend of mine asked me where the wedding is going to be held and I sent her the resort info. She emailed me back and said, "I don't do resorts, I'll just stay in a small hotelito or B&B." smile35.gif Um...OK. So I contacted the resort and found out the guest passes are $75. Now, part of me thinks I should pay it; but the other part of me is like: you choose to stay elsewhere, why should I have to fork out $$$ for that person to come on the property? And of course, now I am worried other guests might do this too. Grrrrrr....

At least I have a while to mull this over! Good points above tho that everyone has shared.

We are directing everyone to our travel agent to make their travel arrangements. She is going to do the dirty work by letting them know where the wedding will be and the price of the resort (Iberostar). If they can't afford it, and want recommendations for other hotels or resorts she will let them know about the day pass fees to attend the wedding or other events held at the resort. Once we have a final count of how many people are coming and where they are staying we can decide if we will be paying for the day passes. Some may decide that the cost of the day pass to stay at a cheaper resort ends up being the same price of staying at the Iberostar so hopefully they will all just stay where the wedding is.

Great topic...

We put a blurb in our website that we'd prefer all guest to stay in the same resort, but understand that not all may be able to due to costs or availability at the time of reservation. We mentioned that a day pass is required if they are not staying at Dreams. We did not say we will pay, but if someone asked us if we can cover their day pass, then we will.

I'm hoping that we won't need to cover anyone. Where I stand on this is that the guest should pay for the day pass since they chose to stay outside of the resort that the wedding will be held. They should factor in the day pass fee to the savings they are getting by staying in another resort.

I just wanted to post to see if my ticker is off. RoSean is getting married 3 days after me, but I thought my ticker said 4 weeks.

    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
    • So we are currently looking for an all inclusive resort for the wedding. We have 60 guests and found all the Dreams resorts as options and all of them gave us a quote and discounted price since it’s off season etc. Resorts in Punta Canta gave us a reasonable price, Dominicus gave us a really good deal then La Romana Resort and Spa gave us their regular price and so hard to negotiate. Will someone tell us how special is this resort that they won’t give us a good discount when all my guests are staying in their resort for 5-8 days. We are bringing $$$ in their resort and not give us a discount?  What is so special with this resort?  Can somebody recommend a beautiful resort?
