Hi All!!!

The big day for Steve and I is (hopefully) May 25th 2008. I have been attempting to plan a destination wedding for almost 3 weeks and I am finding it more and more difficult to get anywhere. I have my heat set on the Occidental Grand Xcaret but I can't seem to get anyone on the phone there. Suggestions, advice, and words of wisdom would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,

Galit

Hey Galit, welcome to the forum!! welcome3.gif

I don't have any fantastic advice for you, except to maybe use a Travel Agent? :-| Sorry... I'm not sure how difficult it normally is to reach them. It's so frustrating though, isn't it?!

Also, have you tried e-mailing them? For some reason, I find when I e-mail them I tend to get more responses... I think it's because they can contact me whenever they feel like it, and they're not obligated to drop everything they're doing right then and there to talk to me on the phone.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I am SO excited to have found this forum - there is so much helpful advice here :) Unfortunately, as Adamsgrrl noted, the Xcaret's email system is not very good. Most of the emails just get returned. I am just so excited to plan this wedding already... I really want someone to call me back!

I would agree with both emailing as well as getting a TA to help you set everything up. Do you have a Travel Agent yet? It can be really nice because whenever your guests have questions they can talk to the TA instead of you!

Anyways, welcome! There is so much information on here and the ladies are very willing to help and share. :)

Welcome! It does stink that the response time for places is slow. I think that resort is beautiful though and I bet you'll be really happy if you stick it out!

Hello & welcome3.gif! I would also highly recommend using a Travel Agent. My travel plans have simplified enormously since I started working with my travel agent. I am DEFINITELY a Type A person, and it was hard to just give up the control and let her do her thing, but it is such a relief to just worry about the event itself!!! rolleyes.gif

Steve (my soon to be hubby smile159.gif) is already in touch with the "group rates" person from the Xcaret trying to coordinate a package deal for all our guests (my inlaws are insisting on paying for every single guest). We are just waiting for a final package. My job is to figure out the airfare and I have NO idea where to start. Do I get a TA to just coordinate the airfare for our guests? Does anyone know how that works as far as using multiple airlines, group discounts, etc?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
