Please tell me your honest feelings, and if you regretted it when you arrived or if you were pleasantly suprised. Thank you
That's a good point. I really want to be able to have a 1st dance and speeches, but some resorts charge a fortune to have a private dinner.

I've met brides who didn't do the private dinner and were still able to do that in the a la carte restaurant or disco (they said their group was large enough that they ended up taking over the restaurant and then at the disco they just asked the DJ to play their CD).

But I don't want to risk the resort saying no and then we miss out on the traditional wedding stuff.
Anyone have any recommendations?

I just spent the day at the Majestic shooting a wedding.

The bride and groom booked the terrace area of the steakhouse restaurant. It was a private dinner, cost roughly $300 more, was private, they played their own music, lasted until 11 and was less then a 1 minute walk away from the full bar.

It is a great option. The only foreseeable problem is weather. One rain, two in the winter it might be too windy since it is right next to the beach and you are on the outer side of the wind screens.

Once I get the photos done I will post them.

Hi Josh,

I was just at the Majestic to do a site visit and vacation. When you say the terrace is $300 to rent was that just for dancing, cake, etc. after the meal or did they get a private dinner in addition to the party stuff? It was my understanding that you still had to pay per person if you wanted the private dinner on the terrace and pay the $300 to rent it. Let me know because I liked the set up but def. can't afford to pay person for dinner since our wedding is approaching 40+ people. Thanks!

I'm afraid the couple I was with might have gotten some kind of deal and they got the steakhouses free meal and it only cost them $300 to rent the terrace. I have heard the WC's have now told a couple people that the dinner is considered private and you have to pay per person. I am back there in a little over two weeks and could ask for you then but I have no way other then email to contact them until then.

Thanks!
The wind tends to calm down in May but there are the odd windy nights. May is beautiful in Punta Cana, it is hot during the day and very nice at night.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
