Hello Ladies!

Happy Planning to everyone! I am new here and am SOOO glad I found this website! So much feedback and great ideas!!

I am getting married at Dreams Palm Beach on Oct 21, 2011. We are already at 80 booked and counting and I am not a planning kind of person. I did go visit the resort about a month ago so that helped a little. Anyone else doing a wedding about that size who has suggestions. I was originally thinking of having the ceremony at the Gazebo and the wedding coordinator assure me that they can accomodate the # of guests I am anticipating...but while visiting the gazebo looks a lot smaller than I had thought it would be. Plus we are going all the way to a beautiful carribean island it would make sense to take advantage of the landscape for the wedding, right? I was thinking of doing more of a cocktail/ appetizer thing since it is an all inclusive resort and people have been already doing lots of eating?! what does everyone think about that?

Hey, I think with 80 guests going out of their way to be there for your big day you should def treat them to a catered dinner and dancing so that the night isn't lost once your ceremony finishes. It's a nice way to have an amazing time with your guests while maintaining the momentum of your Wedding Day.

So my FH recently decided he wants to have an at home reception. It would be held in a restaurant/ lounge. We are getting married July 23 in DPB and the reception would be about a month later... It will also be his 30th bday/ A year from the day he proposed, so definitely worth a celebration. We would place the focus on it being an at home reception and just have the cake for his birthday instead of a second wedding cake kind of thing. Here's my question... Do we still invite guests that attended our destination wedding? My fear is people being offended by npt getting invited, however, I would not want them to think they have to give us a second gift/check or whatever. Please help!!!

Hi Plamento and Dreams palm beach ladies!

That is exciting that we are both having our wedding the same weekend! I think it will be nice for you to have a smaller wedding group. I am really stressing the amount of people and trying to coordinate it all!! I definitely want to do something private for my group but was trying to do several appetizers and drinks since everybody will be eating all day considering it is an all inclusive. I want to focus the reception on the dancing and drinks lol...not really the food.  I may change my mind. I just have been to many wedding where there is a nice sit down dinner and it doesn't even get eaten because everyone is busy dancing. Also with 80+ guests it gets REALLY expensive to pay for dinner for each! I am really torn about photography!! I am more into the artistic type photos like www.katyanovablog.com or http://michaelsteingard.com/#home/rather than the traditional type photographers. But those are more $$.

**My visit to Dreams both helped and stressed me out more. I was staying at a different resort, Secrets Sanctuary, cap cana, (which is truly an amazing place for a honeymoon) and I only had a short time to visit Dreams and get my questions answered. The resort is very social and we choose it for this reason. It is also family friendly.for guests that have children. I was originally thinking of having the ceremony at the gazebo, which is pretty in and of itself, but it is far from the beach and really doesn't have a very good view. It is also is small and it would be difficult to accomodate a larger wedding. So I am rethinking it and having it on the beach!! Then I want my reception by the pool. I just hope there is room for the # of guests and a dance floor!

I am stressing air fare!! anyone having luck with this!!?? or suggestions? okay I am going on and on...if you have questions ask! :)

Hey ladies, this question goes out to the brides who have recently got married at the DPB. I have a question regarding makeup / hair. Did past brides use the salon services on site and were you satisfied with your hair/makeup? A friend of mine got married in Jamaica last year and had a really bad experience with her makeup. She ended up having to wash it off and redo her own makeup.

To upcoming brides: Are you planning on getting your makeup/hair done at the resort salon?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
