hey i am actually getting married in the local cathedral of punta cana its about 10 minutes from the resort=)

We werent thrilled about those choices either, but have decided to get legally married at home. We're looking at it as a "technicality" and more like signing some papers then actually being married. We arent considering ourselves married until the symbolic ceremony at DPB and only a few close family members know the truth.

Was the are by the pool well lit at night? Do you have any idea about noise control (the DJ) since it's at the center of the resort?

It doesn't sound so bad when you say it lol. I offered to pay extra for a judge to come later in the day but Sharron said it is not a matter of cost, they have other obligations, etc. If it is very early in the day I will definetely reconsider getting married at home and not telling anyone.

That is what we winded up deciding on because they wanted us to get married at 1 pm.  WAAAAYYY tooooo hot at that time.

We are getting married at home first as well and then doing a religious ceremony at the resort with Pastor York which he follows up with the symbolic ceremony. Based on the vows and the ceremony he sent me, it seems quite beautiful and perfect for what I truly wanted for both my FI and myself as well as our guests.

Hey Elizabeth, I'm glad your trip went well and that you were able to put any worries about the resort to rest. Thanks for the info. I am using a Travel Agent from Cruise One @ www.cruiseone.com. They specialize in cruises but she happens to be a family friend. Our group rates are as follows: 4Nights (double occupancy) $468.54 pp/pn, 4 Nights (single occupancy) $661.20, & 7Nights (double occupancy) $786.60.

FYI

 

When i received group rate info from the hotel, they also mentioned that if we did not want to go through the hotel, we could use apple vacations for the same rates.  they actually have staff onsite at the hotel.  The rates they quoted me are in line with those shared by CCin331.
