Dreams Palm Beach?

I sent my info and she said the date was available at the resort and that she would ask for my deposit when she heard back from the judge. It's only been about a week since I heard that from her. Hopefully I will hear something soon. Thanks!!

Once she said it was available and I sent in my info and deposit it took 2-3 weeks, maybe less but it seemed like an eternity... This was because she had to send all our info to the judge to see if he had it available and what times, and that took a while. If you aren't using the judge it will probably be much quicker.

It usually takes about 2-3 weeks to hear back from the judge. I recently booked with Pastor York after learning about him from this thread. He does a real wedding ceremony with an exchange of vows and rings with readings followed by the symbolic ceremony. The entire service lasts about 20-25 minutes compared to the 10 minute civil ceremony. You would just get your marriage license where you live first which you have to do regardless for your marriage to be recognized. Just an idea... I know I thought this was more of what I wanted and was excited when I found out it was an option.

I think we will just wait on the judge, as nerve-wracking as it is. Even though Pastor York would be nice and give a more traditional ceremony, I still want our actual marriage to be in front of our friends and family in the Dominican and so does my fiance. I know the civil ceremony is not going to be as traditional (which is a negative), but I think it would be a fair trade-off. I have also heard that after the judge does the civil ceremony, you can do the symbolic ceremony too.  Thank you for the information though.

I heard back from Melani today, and evidently the Judge got back to her about my wedding date for next year, however, he added a 1 in front of the 2 and said he was available on December 12, 2011 instead of December 2, 2011. I'm going to go crazy waiting!!

Does anyone know if you need to book a symbolic ceremony in advance--simalar to finding out if a date is available for the legal ceremony?  The symbolic ceremony doesnt require the booking of a judge...so I am thinking you dont have to book it that far in advance?  am I way off here??

Thanks everyone!

Even though you do not need to book a judge, you still need the resort to reserve your date. They do 2 weddings a day and once those get booked, the date is no longer available. I booked a year in advance and there were limited dates for the month I wanted.

They are very strict on the 3 day thing (for a symbolic ceremony too!) because the WC needs to meet with you ahead of time to make final decisions. Then she needs time to prepare everything for you. I know it sucks but it's just one of those things you have to work around.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
