switching over

Recommended Posts

so after all this time of being a dreams cancun bride i pretty sure im switching over to the sandals jamaica side ladies!!! shane and i went to talk to yet another travel agent to get some info on jamaica and it looks like its a go. first of all, that is originally where we were going to get married. we switched because of price and single people going. well, considering ive never been anywhere and shane has only been to cancun once and it was with his long time girlfriend before me, i had a hard time to think that we would be getting married at a place that they went together. i know it may sound petty and immature but as much as i tried not to let it bother me it did. like i told him, it wouldn't be an issue to go there but to get married there to me is different. jamaica is somewhere we both wanted to go and everyone that is going has never been there but most have been to cancun. so here we are trying to make a decision on that. after all this time planning with dreams i start all over. we are looking into the sandals resorts. we like montego bay, dunns river villagio, and grande ocho rios. any advice or info would help. thanks for letting me vent. im off to learn about weddings in jamaica now. LOL

our original plan was beaches boscabel because of the kid situation, are you bringing your kids? I love the Ocho Rios side of Jamaica is more what we wanted, less touristy and Dunn's river falls is awesome!

i prefer to book sandals for a honeymoon rather than a DW...one of the main reasons is because it is quite expensive.

the room rates are in the high $400's-500 per night....it is hard enough to get guests to book when the room rate is in the $200 per night range.

Thank you Tammy!! That information is helpful. we are looking to a basic reception since we don't want anything too elaborate. we don't have too many guest coming and we are having a big reception when we get back.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
