Anyone here do drastic measures? Peels, lasers, ect?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just wondering if any of you were so hell-bent on looking perfect on your big day, that you did anything drastic? Or absurdly expensive?

I had a lot of acne as a teanager, (still do sometimes) that I looked into peels and dermabrasion. I am scheduled for a Fraxel Repair laser surgery next week. Basically, a laser will burn off the top layer of my face so that new, soft scar-free skin will develop underneath. Yep, all at the mere cost of $3000I will just not be able to go in public for 10 days.

My family thinks I am crazy. But I can't be alone...I picked up a free local wedding guide and the first 4 pages were advertisments for plastic surgeons.

I had acne for about a year in high school and some of the acne left small scars. I am a girly girl so of course I wanted to get rid of them. I did a series of microdermabrasion sessions and glycolic acid peels and it worked wonders. My skin is flawless now! I highly recommend this. Yes, it is pricey, but totally worth it. Hope that helps you! I have to tell you I watched a show (true life on mtv) and they had 3 adults/teens on there who suffered from acne and wanted treatments. There was one girl who did the laser and her results were not good. She said it didn't improve the acne and she looked super scary!!! Please watch this episode b/c her face looked horrendous after the procedure. Just a thought....I would try the peels/micro first and if that doesn't help I would suggest to do the laser like you planned. Good luck girlie!

Desiree, did you just do at home microdermabrasion and peels or did you go to a salon and have it done? how much of each treatment did you need and how much do you think you spent?

I have a little acne scarring on my cheekd and I'd like to try and get rid of it by the wedding.

Hey Lisa-I had the peels and micro done at a salon that specialized in it. A skin care spa place. I can't remember exactly how many treatments of each, but I want to say 4-6 treatments. When I went they told me exactly how many treatments I would need to get rid of the scarring. Hope that helps. I really recommend this combo!

Lisa-sorry I forgot to answer the question about the price. I really don't know the exact amount b/c my mom and dad paid for it in high school. I know that they offered a package if you bought it in sets of three. I can't remember how much. I was less than $1500 I believe.

Hi, I did not see what lasers those people used. There are a few different kinds, and it also depends on the skill of the plastic surgeon, and the intensity setting of the machine. I have researched all that and heard horror stories. The Fraxel is suppose to be the newest, best technology. I know I will look scary for a while. Hopefully it will be worth it!

I am having several small things removed from my face - I have 2 tiny skin tags and a brown spot - most people wouldn't notice them, but I do, and FI works for a Dermatologist/Surgeon so I can get it done very easily. I am also going to have a tummy tuck at the end of the summer - I lost 80 pounds a few years ago and have a lot of loose skin...I'm getting that tucked and possibly lipo on my thighs and butt...so I guess you can say I'm going pretty drastic!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
